Maia, the Mermaid

She's older than she looks, it takes time to grow as big as she is.
She loves tuna fish, but she will eat anything that moves. It's not easy finding enough food :( But she always tries her best!!
She doesn't like getting close to land, it's really scary. :( One time, she almost got stranded and she could just barely crawl back to water deep enough for her to swim away. That taught her about the dangers of curiosity.
But when the water's deep enough she doesn't have much to worry about! Sharks or killer whales are too small to hurt her now. But she remembers when she and her sisters were still little, some of them got really hurt by them. She's not angry at sharks or the orcas. She understands they just wanted to eat.
In her freetime she plays with the cute little blue whales, they race who can keep their breath the longest. Whales always win, but Maia won't give up!
