Hi everyone! This is your June newsletter, written by the one and only Octy. Can we take a minute to appreciate the consistency of uploading not one, but TWO newsletters on time? Admittedly, last month, I only got 2 (technically 3) of the 4 planned videos out. But considering I made it through that Pyramid puzzle game baubles with a shred of my sanity intact, it’s a bloody miracle.

Before we flip the calendar, I want to say thank you to all the new subscribers who’ve joined up this month! Thanks for taking a gamble on me. And to everyone who’s supported me in any way shape or form so far, thank you thank you thank you. You guys are the greatest <3

Twitch Update

New Twitch stream schedule announcement:

- Tuesday evening at 8.30pm is bootleg game night!

- Thursday evening at 8.30pm is crappy game night!

- Sunday evening at 7.30 pm is MOAR stream!

- On the 2nd Saturday of every month will be the new subscriber-only stream - 8.30pm. In these streams I’ll be going all out on the Crowd Control, so you guy can mess with the game I’m playing, and various characters will show up!

Videos Planned This Month!

I’ll hopefully be uploading 3 new videos in June:

1) Action 52. A 52-game compilation released on the NES in1991. From shitty shooters to pretty-fucking-terrible platformers.

2) The Strange Case of the Cheetamen – a featured game of Action 52 that is confusing, to say the VERY least.

Now, the keen-eyed onlookers among you are probably going ‘Weren’t those the videos from last month?’ – Correctamundo! They’ve taken me MUCH longer to make than originally planned. But they’re in the works and should be ready for June! Along with 1 other, if you’re lucky.

3) Pokémon Bootlegs! JJ told me a story about buying an old GBA cartridge from a shady man in Tenerife many years ago that promised Pokémon and rewarded her with BULLSHIT. So, I have made it my sworn duty to discover the source of her pain and create a video about it for your viewing pleasure and her disdain. Don’t worry, we’re still friends… somehow.

Update on Me

I won’t lie, this last month has not been fun. Anxiety has decided to crank itself all the way up to 11, and along with uni work, life, and general rat-based baubles, it’s been a difficult one to get my head around. Thanks to a series of smol breakdowns though, I do now have a sweet new haircut and a set of bangs that’d make Cher jealous. Swings and roundabouts.

To get back on top of things, I’m going to kickstart the process by losing a lil weight and documenting everything on Instagram to help me keep track. And before anyone chimes in with ‘But you’re fine just the way you are!’ please remember, this change is for me and my mental health. Not anyone else.

I’ve also cracked out le credit card and finally, finally, FINALLY bought myself some recording equipment! Thinking about recording an album, or maybe just a few songs. Inevitably I’ll be testing these out on stream on some point, so keep your eyes - and ears – peeled!

Patreon Changes

You also might have noticed a few fun changes to the Patreon tiers. Aside from shedding the kitten theme in favour of Ruling Rattos, I’m going to be looking to you lot for more video and stream suggestions! At the higher tiers, I’ll be doing a video at random based on the games you suggest at least once a month. This might be a stream, or it might be a smol review, depending on how easy it is for me to get my hands on and set up.

I’ve also removed the AMA discord option from the tiers. Bit of a step backwards I know, but I realised AMA’s were making me anxious, so I’ve dropped it as an option for the foreseeable. They might make a comeback, but not right now. Hope that’s ok!

To make up for it, I’ve added a few extra bits in instead – like behind the scenes rat roundups! It’ll be little compilations of all the ABSOLUTE FUCKING MAYHEM they cause when the cameras are turned off. I’ll also be uploading Patreon exclusive twitch clip compilations of some of my favourite streams, so you can laugh at all the bits that‘ve made me spit my drink out or had me screaming at the screen!

I’ll also be uploading 2 versions of my YT videos – a longer, unedited version with all the extra bits that don’t make it into the final cut, and the final vid! It’ll be like the director’s cut of any film you’ve ever seen, but with more mental breakdowns and hammers smashing up shit consoles.

And for those of you that bought into the Personalised Thank You Card Tier – I PROMISE I AM WORKING ON THIS. The cards have arrived, I just need to accessorise them with a little glitter. Sorry. That’s a lie. ALL THE GLITTER. (If you have ordered one, I suggest opening it over an easily wipeable surface. They’re gonna be heaving with love/SPARKLES, I warn you now.)

Any Planned Octav1us Appearances

*AIRHORN NOISE* The pandemic is lifting, cons are back on, nature is healing. I’m ecstatic to announce I’ll be showing up at OLL Video Games Convention ’22! I should be about for the whole weekend, and will have a little stall set up. Might have a little merch, might have a few monitors for prime bootleg bullshit. Maybe we play 2-player? Maybe we set the entire lot on fire? To find out, come swing by – 15th – 16th of January at the Norfolk Showground Arena.

And that’s not all! The kind lads over at OLL have given me not one, not two, but THREE pairs of weekend tickets to giveaway. Be sure to tune into my streams if you want a chance of winning them. I’ll think of some random nonsense prize draw, possibly in the form of a charity stream!

Rats Rats Rats

The official HOT NEW RATS ™ also known by their formal titles Detective Sergeant Trifles and the Right Honourable Reverend Teacake are well and truly settled in. Sweet, mad angels, both of them.

Officer Waffles, like me, is going on a bit of a diet. He’ll still be very large and in charge, but more so that he’s the size of a regular rat and less like an animated bloody doorstop.
