August Newsletter
Added 2019-08-08 20:59:37 +0000 UTCHello everyone, here is your August newsletter as written by myself (Oct) while two of my rats try very hard to walk all over the keyboard.
As you will have noticed, the reward tiers have changed. I am trying so hard, with the help of Retro Princess who is doing an excellent job of keeping me in line, to be better for my supporters and more consistent. Thus the rewards have got smaller, but it does mean I have more time for videos and interaction with you lot.
Videos Planned this month!
I went to the Retro Computer Museum in Leicester at the start of this month with Nostalgia Nerd, because we both found out they have Virtuality machines and pretty much lost our minds at the thought of using them. It was a full 3 hour drive each way for him what with picking me up too, so it was a mission but certainly worth it.

I think I’ve got at least 3 videos in what I found there:
- General video about the museum. They don’t get a lot of publicity and they would be delighted to get a bit more word about there, even though - as I’ll say in my video - it’s not a ‘conventional’ museum and certainly doesnt’ have museum accreditation. They don’t really want that though, they think it will kill the vibe.
- The Virtuality machines. Nostalgia Nerd of course with his legion of subscribers gets first dibs on doing an informational video about the company Virtuatlity and their machines, and if I do one too I’ll get told I’m “riding on his coat-tails” again (genuinely the kind of comments he gets on my videos about me) so I’ll be doing my own video about the actual experience of playing with those AWESOME VR machines.

3. Simon, who is the owner of the Virtuality machines at the museum, randomly had a Jaguar headset in his car. So I got the touch it. I think it will make a nice little video if I can find some interesting gubbins about it. It was a shame he didn’t have the receiver for it, and in any case the thing is horrendous to wear, but I reckon it could still be a cool little video.

I also have plans for some more Rats and Tat, featuring my new rat Bronk. Possibly:
- The Barcode Battler itemes I’ve recently accquired from Trista Bytes, with who I frequently argue about whether the Barcode Battler is more playable than the Jaguar
- The INCREDIBLE transforming laptop toy I was handed at Digitiser Live. IT’S AMAZING. IT’S THE CRAPPEST THING I THINK I OWN AND I WOULD PROTECT IT WITH MY LIFE.

3. The godawful shooting gallery version of the Tiger Virtua Cop LCD game I was given by Mr Biffo, since him and Gannon already covered it on the Digitiser channel.

I’m also working on a video about Gameboys, as Asobi.tech came over last month to show off his incredible collection and a lot of it is exceptionally interesting.
Update on Me
Thankfully, i passed my driving test last month. I’m relieved, because the lessons were often costing me an overdraft fee and also it means i can actually leave the flat now and again, once I get running with a little chuggy car. It’s weird to have that prospect of freedom now,
Streaming - I do have a half-baked idea to stream at least once a week, but I can never tell how I'm going to feel on any given day. To be honest, when i stream even when I've been feeling rubbish, i do feel a lot better.
Editing - I’ve now officially moved away from Premiere Pro. The absolute state of that program - I cant believe how much time I've wasted because the stupid thing is barely functional. I've spent hours trying to find workarounds for bugs caused by its own updates.
I’ve moved onto Vegas, which is a Magix product. I’m a bit nervous, since I’ve had bad times with Magix products in the past, but if it's not too much changed from when Sony had it, it should be alright. But because of that, there won’t be any super sparkly ridiculous edity videos this month, while I try to get to grips with the new program.
Any Planned Octav1us Appearances
I'm off to a Numskull product launch on the 12th in London, where I intend to touch all of said product. It's a smol arcade cabinet of Galaga. Sounds fun and I was told there would be food so seemed a no-brainer.
I was supposed to be on Barshens last month, but trains melted on the day and I couldn't make it. Stuart says he will pester me this month again, so HOPEFULLY that will be happening.
Myself and the Digitiser crew will be getting together at the end of the month to make more daft Digitiser videos also.
Rat Update
I have a new rat. His name is Lord Bronk the Second, although he also seems to answer to Bronky, Bronkasaurs and Bronkles. He is the sweetest little baby, about 6 months old. Seems he’s lived alone all his life, which is sad for rats, and introducing him to my other boys Oric and Pancakes is proving difficult because Oric is pretty set on being a giant doorhandle to the poor little dude.

EDIT: On my birthday, I ACCIDENTALLY acquired two more additional rats. As in, I saw them and fell in love with them, so it’s not really my fault.

As always, thank you SO MUCH for your support. I don't feel like I'm worth it, but I'm hoping with changes I can become worth it.
