Development Update - 2nd of August 2025

Hey everyone!

For our monthly public dev update, we'll share with you what we worked on during July.

Realm 4

We've made some good progress with Realm 4. Since our last public update, we've animated several more animations. We mentioned last month that all of the base posing for Realm 4's main story is complete. Since then, we've made decent progress in going through the early parts of Realm 4 to add the facial expressions. So, we now have quite a few scenes that are only outstanding lighting and camera work.

We've got a couple of work-in-progress Naya previews on this post :)

Side Paths

Our art director is currently working on the side path animations (of which there are 15 to complete) and will then move on to the side path still images (totalling around 1,350 images). The posing/animating for them is done. This part of the process involves fixing any noticeable issues with the scenes, adding lighting and camera work, rendering, and then post-work. There is a fair amount to work through here, but it does mean the next update will be a chunky one. We will communicate a release date closer to the time, as currently we cannot be entirely sure when we'll have it ready.

Also, when we launch the side paths update, we will be adding support for Turkish, alongside our currently supported languages.

A College of Thirst & Claws

Our second game, ACTC, has been progressing in the background. It has taken us much longer to pull together than we initially anticipated. But the still images and animations are now finalised (except that the animations don't have sounds yet). This is a big milestone for the project, but we still have much to do before we launch it. We currently plan to release the side paths and the first chapter of Realm 4 before launching ACTC on Patreon (and later Steam). We will keep you updated on this. For now, we're happy to share some of the finalised preview images.

Hey, sorry I missed your comment before - we initially planned for this, with the side paths being accessible at specific points in the story, rather than as a menu at the end of the Realm. We changed this for a couple of reasons. One was due to limitations of the game engine we work in. We couldn't find a way to make it work as intended. The other was to allow players to skip this content entirely if they only wanted to focus on the main story, without the side content being too "intrusive" on the main story. That said, we will continue to explore ways to streamline the side paths in future Realms. Thanks for your comment :)

Wondering if side paths can be more integrated in the main story rather than having a side story scene menu?
