Development Update - 8th of Feb 25

Hey everyone,

I'll start with a frame of an upcoming Tasha animation ^

For a condensed version of this post, in summary, we're doing a lot of work on improving our internal processes, streamlining things, and improving overall quality and speed. This will take some time, so releases will likely be slower for a while, but once we are through this part, updates should be bigger and released at a good pace.

Side Paths #1

Yesterday, the first side paths update was sent to all qualifying supporters and launched on our other platforms (except for Steam, for which we're waiting for one last translation to be completed).

Processes/Team

Again, much of this week's work has been streamlining our processes and trying to get things in place for future side paths, as well as Realm 4.

We've also brought a new team member on board, so we're working with them to ensure their style matches our existing one. We plan for this new team member to light the remaining side paths. This means things will be a little slower in the short term but for an increased development speed in the long run.

Tae's been struggling this past week with writing the last couple of outstanding side paths (such as Lilin, who we added a side path for later than everyone else). She's been helping out with some other tasks and has been feeling a little under the weather. She has inspiration for Realm 5 though, so when she's feeling better and is less busy, writing Realm 5 will help her get her mojo back for the later side paths!

(Rest assured that almost all of the soon-upcoming side paths have already been written and posed, with only the final lighting/camera work outstanding).

Realm 4

Except for one scene, Tae has finished the writing of Realm 4.

We want to be more thorough with Realm 4's script to ensure we have more variation and choices than previous Realms. It will take a while longer to release the first update, but once we do, the updates should be significant and released at a good pace.

Most of the environments for Realm 4 have been created, and a decent number of the scenes in Realm 4 have been blocked out (characters posed without facial expressions, camera work or lighting).

This has allowed us to identify faults in the environments and fix/improve them. We plan to use these test images to play test the scenes early, fix any issues, and adjust the script as needed.

These don't have their final textures, etc, but here are a couple of early environment previews:

ACTC

I (Jay) spent some time this week working on our other project, A College of Thirst & Claws. We hope to put together a short demo soon. If all goes as planned, the demo will be available on Steam for "Steam Next Fest" at the end of this month.

You can already follow and wishlist the game on Steam to keep updated!

Thanks for your continued support. Have a great weekend!

That shot doesn't have its final lighting yet; it is only the test lighting we use when posing the image. You'd be amazed at how much the lighting changes things lol. In this shot, Atlas is just a lot more in the shadow than Kali is :)

Wait....why is Atlas looking a lot darker in that render while kissing kali?

Galactico

A friendly welcome to your new team member. Hope your streamlining of your work process goes well. Even at my job (and any), its frustrating when my part of the job is done, but I am waiting on others because different people work at different pace or there is lack of streamlining to the workflow. ACTC is my most hyped one and most looking forward to release. Hoping this will have lots of supernatural or fantasy content, which is what made me love SR in the first place, which will also distinguish it and make it amazing. Character models look great as do the settings.
