A.L.I.E. is an AI built by Becca, it uses conventional servers and mainframe for storage and as a software, it's made to be accessed by conventional hardware as computers, screens, and holograms, and A.L.I.E. made its own hologram(avatar)in its creator's image, but hologram can go only as far as holo emitters are located and set(like in that mansion on the Island)but when A.L.I.E. met Jaha she instructed him to build a mobile conventional mainframe that allows her program to be mobile and those chips that after swallowed and diggested become A.L.I.E.'s connection and access to human mind(Becca didn't built those chips for A.L.I.E. neither made it for that purpose, A.L.I.E. built them for itself)and since there is no holo emitters around, what people "see" after they take the chip is a projection of A.L.I.E. in their minds, while in the physical space there is no A.L.I.E.'s hologram, neither avatar near by, and the City of Light is a digital world that A.L.I.E. built for human minds..
