Realm 2 Finale - Progress Update

Hello everyone,

We thought we'd give you a progress update on how the next release is coming along.

If you read our last progress report or have seen us mention it elsewhere, you may know that we decided to merge the final two Realm 2 releases into one bigger, grand finale. Typically our monthly updates are around 250 renders and 30 minutes of gameplay.

For this final release, we will have almost 800 images, eight NSFW animations (all with several angles) and several fighting animations you can see in our trailer.

New Workflow

I've not yet described our image creation workflow on Patreon, so I will detail it below for anyone interested.

First, I (Tae) pose the images in Daz without lighting. I render them low-quality (or take screenshots in "iray") and send the images and script to Shoe_Lac3. It allows him to have a feel for the scene and see if the camera angles I choose work well or not, but also to determine which lighting will enhance the scene. If a particular ray of light hits the character's eyes at some point, it is thought through and done on purpose. A lot of the time, he has to correct mistakes I make, and he makes other enhancements to the scene, but I'm getting better haha.

After he's added the lighting, he returns the Daz file to me, and I render everything. I then send him the Exr files (not the images), and he can do the post-work on them. Post-Work hasn't yet been applied to all of the images below of Lucius, Kali & Atlas.

Current Progress

At the moment, we have rendered all 800 images and are at the post-work stage. We've completed 260 out of 800 images. The post work is relatively quick once, Shoe_Lac3 receives the files, so we should be done on that part relatively soon.

We have completed five of the eight NSFW animations and are currently in the rendering stage of the following three. That takes some time, but things are going at a steady pace.

We hope that we will be able to launch the update by the end of the month and, at the latest early next month. This update is more than three times the size of our usual releases, and we're on track to release it in a record time for us. Woohoo!

We won't be able to do that every month-month and a half, but it feels good to see our workflow improve.

Programmer

We mentioned in our last post that our programmer recently left the project. We worried this would leave us in a difficult position when we wanted to implement a new save import feature before the end of Realm 2. We're happy to announce that we have found a new programmer, and they are making significant progress in implementing this feature. We haven't finalised it yet, but things are looking good.
