Update 12 - Behind The Scenes (The Seven Realms)

And we're back!

Thanks for your patience during this little release break. I hope you noticed the improvement in quality in this update! Both regarding the renders and the animations.

The first scene of this update is one that I added after we finished releasing Realm 1. I felt like we didn't have enough moments with Lucius. He is Atlas' mentor and oldest friend, but we rarely see them interact with each other.

He is also one of the most powerful beings in the Seven Realms, and I wanted players to realise how much more powerful than Atlas Lucius is at the moment, despite him being extremely weakened. This scene is also crucial for the players to understand why Lucius is not the one going to Pythonium. He needs to stay "hidden" for other Realms not to realise how much weaker he is.

Then we have the flashback about Atlas' past, and we get a glimpse of his family. What happened with his dad is why he couldn't give up on Lucius when he was under Ophelia's spell. His last words to Odysseus are why he is trying not to hold grudges anymore (he still has a lot of work to do on that, even after two thousand years lol). If you have read Atlas' little story on the website, you have seen how much he regrets not "saving" his family.

Thanks to his friendship with Lucius, he started to understand his father more.

But enough about Atlas, and let's talk about Mei and Ling Guo! I really liked posing this scene because you can clearly see that Ling Guo is full of shit when she talks about the vampires' daughters lol. She isn't even trying to hide it.

As for the rest of the update, I tried to show different things. I wanted to players to have a glimpse of how Atlas and the girls were interacting with each other. We can see that Kali is getting more relaxed around him. The only point of "tension" is Yuki. As Kali did everything to break free when she was a pet, she can't understand how someone can willingly be a pet. For Kali, it's simply disrespectful towards the people she loved and lost.

When Atlas thought that Yuki's name was Yucchi, and she replied that he could change her name if he'd like, we almost considered allowing the player to respond with "Yes, I will call you Yucchi from now on" and he would then call her that for the rest of the game. But for various reasons, we decided not to. We thought it was a funny idea though.

Then we have a little scene where we see Lucius as a ruler. He is much colder than in the earlier scene. We will see him more in this capacity.

And last but not least, Gina! The first scene with our girl. I hope you enjoyed the new animations in this update and the ability to switch between the angles at will. Aside from that part, it was the first time we'd seen Timeo since what happened to him and our first interaction with Gina in several updates.

Now for the next update, it looks like they're on their way to Pythonium.

If you have been in our Discord server since the start, you may know that we tried to hire a writer at some point. It was for Realm 2, but we hired them several months before we launched Realm 1. I sent them a detailed summary of each update for Realm 2 and asked them to write the dialogue for me, but it didn't work out, and they wrote only the first three updates. However, we had very different ideas, and I felt like the characters all hated each other, and most of the dialogue was waayyyy harsher than what we have now. With Jay, we rewrote the conversations for those updates several times, and we're happy with how they eventually turned out.
