Update 7 - Behind The Scenes (The Seven Realms)

Another twist! We have finally the truth about what happened four hundred years ago. Ophelia was the mastermind behind everything and bewitched Lucius. I tried to give you some subtle clues beforehand while also sending you on the wrong trail. Let us know if you'd suspected her before this update or not!

If you doubted Lucius and wanted to kill him, you can now begin attempting to mend your relationship with him. When writing, it's important to me that you can also mess up your relationships with people you do not have sexual encounters with.

We also encountered Alpha Marc of the Crimson Pack (you may remember him from his brief appearance in the game's opening scene). This will be the last time you see him for some of you, but others may reencounter him later. What did you choose?

I went in strong with Kali's personality because I wanted people to see how learning more about the events surrounding her birth has affected her deeply. She won't be so 'full on' in all future updates.

We also learnt more about Naya and the prophecy surrounding her. We also had the option for our first solo scene with her.

I also referenced Final Fantasy VII in this update (one of my favourite games of all time). I think that other fans of FFVII would've gotten it. It felt appropriate to include it in the seventh update too.

Technical aspect:

From a technical standpoint, this update sucked. We still managed to put it together quickly, but the assets used were heavy. The council chamber alone can be challenging to work with, but putting all those wolves in there, the computer struggled. You may have noticed that we moved to the private council chamber later in the update for their meeting. This is a much easier environment to work with and is where they will hold similar meetings in the future.

I also enjoyed posing some more action in the fight with the werewolves. Jay insisted on Atlas decapitating Marc to kill him (if you chose that path), so I had to work out how to get that to look decent. I couldn't find a good asset for the blood, so Jay tried to do his best in Photoshop lol.

We now have four updates left of Realm One, and they will form two 'mini-story arcs'. The first two with werewolves and the second two with vampires. We hope you enjoy what we do next. :)
