Atlas - Behind The Scenes (The Seven Realms)

It’s hard to remember the exact timeline of his creation process. I remember wanting my harem to make sense. For that, the main character had to be someone attractive and powerful enough for people to want to be a member of his harem. Who would be more powerful and attractive than the heir of the Realm? (Well, the King of the Realm, but he wasn’t an option in this story).

I also wanted him to start as a bit cold so as to be able to experience character growth throughout the game. So cold, promiscuous, and has lived for a long time… The perfect species for him was to be a Vampire.

I hesitated a long time about what kind of Vampire I wanted. Should I go the traditional trope and have them fear the light? Or should I go for a new age Vampire and have them able to sunbathe? I decided to go with a middle ground and create my own brand of Vampire.

For his personality, I wanted him to have biting humour, full of sarcasm. If I could compare his humour to that of two well-known characters, it would be like Jaime and Tyrion Lannister’s humour. I also wanted someone who was able to make hard decisions for the greater good. His sense of duty for his realm comes before anything else. However, when he cares about people, he really cares. Sometimes his loyalty will conflict with his sense of duty. I can’t say much more without spoiling parts of the story, but his background story makes all of his actions during the game logical.

Therefore, the name Atlas came to my mind as he bears the weight of the world/realm on his shoulders.

As you can tell from my creation process, I gave Atlas a strong personality, and I want his actions to stay true to his character and backstory. Even his name is meaningful. When I am writing, I am thinking "what would Atlas do in this situation? “or "would it be logical for Atlas to do to that?".

While he will always remain true to his character, you as the player will make choices on his behalf that will shape the world and characters around him.

Fun Fact: Before further modification, the character model for Zyair and the other male character in the image was meant to be Atlas (I did modify them massively after we decided that they would not be Atlas). Thank God, Jay put his veto on them and I started again from scratch several times and ended up creating the Atlas we have now. See if you can spot in a future update where we ended up using the second character model.
