Ok, after a couple days and giving the album a second listen, Yolo has graduated from disliking it to neutral territory (that's how they get you, baby). Still not in the "join me in the shower" zone though.

Drama is one of my top aespa lead singles, but this might be my least favorite mini album of theirs. It just feels like SM put all rejected b-sides into a mini album and then added βdramaβ to it to sell the package. HAB felt like a red velvet rejected song. Yolo and ToT were a musical mess. Yolo should have been sold off to itzy lol. Iβm hoping that this is SM getting mediocre tracks out of the way before the first full album.

2023-11-26 21:44:55 +0000 UTCWish you a speedy full recovery Dylan! I loveeee "Drama" so much. The production, the song, the choreography, the fashion, the acting, everything. Based on the teasers and some other hints in the MV, I believe the storyline is that aespa is fighting their evil twins (duality). Sword fights and car accidents are definitely them killing each other, however I still struggle with identifying who in the MV are the good ones. I hope their next SMCU video will explain everything a bit better. I also love "Hot Air Balloon" - so cute and lots of fun, perfect for concert. "You" is also very sweet and it's aepsa's fav track from the album.

(I'm talking the era when they were in their MVs singing at airport runways or at school locker rooms all dress alike and not overly produced / stylized with the flashy stuff). Well, in this mini-album by aespa, "Hot air balloon" and "YOLO", I was expecting you to lose your s#!t by how much of early Girls' Generation-esque sound those tracks have (I'm not saying songs were similar, just talking about the kind of sound); heck, the songs themselves are so 2nd/3rd gen.Kpop! I didn't like the songs.. at all, but I was surprised by your calmed reaction as I was so sure you would've gone nuts while listening to them. Don't hear the resemblance? Am I trippin'?
