Greetings adventurers!

The holy orders of this world are always trying to one up one another in whatever new toy they’ve figured out this week. Blessed this, radiant that, I hardly pay attention to it because it’s all the same to me. That said, when I saw a new manner of gauntlet sitting on the wrist of a paladin in a pub, well I was interested. I assure you that this one was acquired in a totally legitimate way from very reputable sources so there’s no need to be worried about that. The paladin? Oh…uhh he’s away on business.

Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play for D&D and Pathfinder 2E. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

If that strikes your fancy, consider becoming a Patron

Design notes from Matthew:

I had a laugh with Fernando after writing this because I realized I hadn’t ever written an item that utilized a reaction and then a follow up action on your turn. It’s such an obvious synergy, but I just had written plenty of other stuff without the need for that coming into mind. It’s great that we’re still out here several years later and creating things with mechanics that we haven’t even touched yet. It tells me we’ve got a long way to go.

The general idea of this started with a shield that didn’t always have to be such a shield. I think that there’s benefits in keeping a hand open in both 5E and PF2E and sometimes carrying a shield really can put a damper on those other mechanics. With a gauntleted hand, well those problems don’t exist, but I still wanted some temporary AC bonuses. Fernand had the idea for the radiant stylings and my next stop was then giving it something to capitalize on after a block.

The shield bash of radiant/fire damage is one of those pieces that I had floating around in my head, but I didn’t just want to make it an any time thing. I wanted using it to have some restrictions and meaning, thus I tied it to taking an action after having used the shield, like summoning and dispelling it. Just a fun little way to restrict things but make it more dynamic.

I love that we’re this deep into the creative journey and the well still hasn’t run dry of ideas. I truly think the only limit on creativity is often in your own mind and that’s awesome. I’m looking forward to finding even more engaging mechanics this year. I have some ideas coming up that I can’t wait to share.

We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.
