State of the Bolf - November 2020

Hello my Tribe! Here is a general life update for all of you since I haven't done one in awhile.

October was a very busy, crazy, and fun month for me with all the Fang Fest goodness. I -adore- werewolves and wish I could just spend my days drawing them. Thankfully, I have you, my patrons, and you are helping me towards that goal. I hope you have been following me on social media and enjoying the snarlies I've been sharing. I wanted to get more drawing done in October, but Etsy and my other obligations have been keeping me hopping.

I am so glad to see all the new faces here! I am hoping to keep up the momentum and really make my Patreon a fun and rewarding place for my fans. I have more art and other fun things planned for November, so hopefully you will stay tuned to see what's in store!

This year has been...wow. Life is completely abnormal in too many ways. We did all of two shows this year, Colorado Indian Market in January, and then Pantheacon (the last one :<) in February. After that, the pandemic hit, and all of our shows have been cancelled into next spring. I have been okay with that as I am a total introvert. However, we had to really make the internet work for us. Thankfully, creating face coverings and other new products has really been good for business. That, and our Patreons have really been helping to keep us afloat without the shows.

For those that don't know, my soul sister, business partner, and roommate Sandra was diagnosed with some health problems in April and had to have a couple of surgeries. She is currently on chemotherapy as a preventative measure, and will be done with chemo in December. However, she will need additional treatments and follow-ups into next year. So no, not a fun year at all for us. I am doing all that I can to help her in her healing, and with whatever she needs.

Like a lot of people, we are really missing our friends, family, and loved ones. I am even beginning to miss shows (which, being an introvert, I always have a love/hate thing with). I miss the traveling, being on the road, seeing new places, meeting new people, and being able to meet my fans. But as long as Covid is a thing, and especially with Sandra on chemo, we can't go anywhere, or do much of anything. We have gotten out a few times to go for drives or do some hiking. But otherwise, it's just Sandra and I and our fur kids stuck in the house together.

As I mentioned, Etsy has been doing great for us, but has become a bit more of a full-time job because of it. Just responding to messages, making sure everything flows smoothly, and that orders get out on time can take the entire day. The extra work, and helping Sandra with whatever she needs, has really eaten into my arting time. And like a lot of other artists, I am battling my own depression from just... everything. But I am muddling through, doing what I can for my mental health with yoga, reading, taking daily walks with the dogs, and screaming into pillows ;)

One thing that I have also been doing these last couple of months is really attempting to get my second novel "Heat" finished. I am just about ready to hand it over to my beta readers, and after that to an editor. I am crossing my fingers that it should be ready to publish by Valentine's Day.

That's pretty much it from my corner of the world. Everything is uncertain, but oddly okay at the same time right now for me. Holding our breaths until after this election, and perhaps at some point next year, we can all attain some kind of normalcy again. Whatever "normal" will look like.

I hope you all are staying sane in our crazy world, and I hope you will continue to hang out with me here and enjoy what I have to share with you on Patreon.

Howls!
Goldiebolf/Christy
