Elden Ring Poise Research
Added 2022-06-30 03:40:15 +0000 UTCThough I have a couple different episode ideas floating around, I've spent the last couple days doing some poise research so that'll likely be the subject of the next one!
One of the first things I did was explore PvE Poise, and I found it interesting how the amount of time before an enemy's poise starts refilling varies drastically in Elden Ring. Recover Time is the amount of time you have after each hit:

In Dark Souls 3, all but a very small handful of enemies stuck to a 10 second timer, so it's interesting to see Elden Ring take a drastic turn from that (while using the same underlying system).
The amount of time is also directly proportional to the amount of poise this time around, where 65 poise w/ 5 seconds is the default (and everything else scales up or down relative to that).
This means the more poise a typical PVE enemy has, the more forgiving the game will be with how much time you have to get subsequent hits in.
I have a lot more research to do, but today I began poking around into PvP Poise as well, and all the little quirks I'm finding are fascinating to me.

As an Elden PVP lord this last statement intrigues especially!
