Demon's Souls Compare-Through Progress Report (and an obscure cut content observation!)

Part 2 of the compare-through is making good progress! I just hit the 25 minute mark today and can't wait to get this finished. I'm now targeting mid-November as a deadline.

On twitter I recently hinted at some (very minor) restored cut content being found in the Demon's Souls Remake, only that no-one has recognized it as such yet. I got a lot of guesses and speculation but no hits, and you'll see why--

There's a bunch of extra corpses found in the area below the execution grounds (Miralda's pit):

The original game doesn't have any of this. The only corpses you'll find down here are the few, sporadic ones with items attached to them and none of the rest you see above:


But it turns out this wasn't just Bluepoint adding a bunch of random stuff for the sake of it, it's actually restored cut content. FromSoftware had originally put a bunch more corpses in here, and what we find in the Remake isn't merely inspired by that, it actually maintains the *exact* placement and posing of the cut corpses as well.

Hiding in the map data this whole time. Well, ignore the t-posing guy. That's the actual corpse-item model.

I know there are a lot of harsh critics of the remake, and I find myself agreeing with a lot of specific complaints that get raised (and this episode won't be afraid to explore some of the things I felt let down by more-critically). But that being said, there's a lot of weird and cool little things they did that the community at large hasn't seemed to notice or recognize yet, and I'm looking forward to bringing that all to light.

For example, did you know some other corpses in 1-1 were subtly changed in a thoughtful and interesting way? And I'm not talking about the hanging corpses from the chains...
