Demon's Souls Compare-Through #2 - Progress Update
Added 2021-03-25 23:37:06 +0000 UTCHello! Updates have been a little quiet here, but just wanted to let everyone know that I'm currently 10 pages into the script for the 2nd episode of the Demon's Souls Compare-through. And after that, I'll likely make another Dark Souls (1) Dissected!
Life has been a bit busy the last couple weeks so I'm further behind with episode 2 than I would've liked, but I'll be knocking out a bunch more progress this weekend.
When I started this series I knew I'd have a fair bit to talk about, but these first 10 pages only cover the start of Boletaria 1-1 up to the boulder trap so far (I'm skipping over the Nexus for now and will return later)! And this episode is supposed to go to the end of 1-2!
Thankfully the entire script won't be that dense, which is good for my own sanity. The episode is going to be front-loaded with a fair amount of (hopefully interesting) tangents, and I'm excited to continue exploring this game at a level of detail that hasn't been done before. And as much as I love the remake overall, some harsher criticisms about some design changes will start to emerge.

So looking forward to it. All of your videos are fantastic and unique. This in-depth look at Demon's Souls is awesome, it's my favorite game and I love to see it dissected like this. I'm also very glad to hear there will be more criticisms of the remake, as I definitely feel like there are artistic choices Bluepoint made that do not capture the magic of the original, and seeing some level-headed discussion of that is something I think the Demon's Souls community kind of needs after months of most people either praising the remake as perfect and dismissing all criticisms, or calling out the remake as a soulless cash grab. Both of these takes are unreasonable so it'll be good to have what I'm sure will be a genuinely fair and balanced take.
