Update on Dark Souls 3 - World Layout

Hello everyone! It's been a bit quiet here for a bit. As some of you may know, I'm not as familiar with Dark Souls 3 overall as I am with some of the previous Soulsborne titles, having only played through it roughly 1.5 times previously.

I did do a bunch of level range and PvP Soul rewards testing when the game was new, so I did dive deep into a few mechanics, but my general knowledge of the game was lacking. I've more-recently spent a good amount of time chipping away in debug and Dark Souls Map Studio, so I felt more than qualified to talk about the game's world layout and knew I could make a quality episode on the subject.

At the same time, though, there was that nagging feeling of "hmm, I don't really remember the internal structure of that one particular level very well though" and "I still have to look up where to find various loot", etc. This is why progress has been slow, I've been doing a casual playthrough of the game at the same time on PS4 with the intent of brushing up on everything.

I'm glad I've been taking my time because doing a regular playthrough has given me a few leads and ideas that I would've missed otherwise. The good news is, I'm deep into the script now. It's going on 17 pages (to contrast, the Miracle Resonance script was 13 pages), and there's a final "misc" section which hasn't been written at all yet!

So I don't quite have an ETA just yet, but typically when I get this far into a project it gains a sort of momentum where I start working faster and more consistently until it's done. I'm very pleased with how it's shaping up, so I hope you're looking forward to it and thank you for being patient!

Here's a sneak-peek at one of the bigger spatial violations found in Lothric!

Go illusory wall!!!

DS3 is the game that I know the least about in terms of it's development, so this will be super interesting to watch. It's arguably my favorite game in the trilogy to play, mostly due to its overall polish and speed, so I hope you've enjoyed your recent treck thru Lothric
