The Looming Landmarks of Lothric (working title)

As you might have seen, the world layout of Dark Souls 3 won the most recent poll! I am very very excited to be doing this one finally. I noticed early on that the game made an effort to include views of lots of distant areas, but with less interconnectivity than Dark Souls 1, I wondered how interesting it would be to break down.

But as it turns out, the more I look at it the more impressed with it I become. Sure there is some janky stuff and inaccuracies (that's expected, and I'm eager to cover all of that as well), but there's actually a lot more consistency and careful planning that went into the world's layout than I had originally assumed.

Some familiar tricks from Lordan's Layout will be returning, like the use of prism stones...

But this time I've also got some newer tricks up my sleeve:

This is still in the research phase, I haven't begun scripting anything just yet, but as you can see I'm already chipping away and the notes I have are piling up.

always curious how ds3 basically being a remix of another game they couldn’t finish in time affected the game design. no hate, love the game, is just so interesting how a lot of the obscure stuff in the game was actually intended to make sense before being chopped up.
