v2.4.0 Side Content | Patreon Poll #51

A quick note for users on the Patreon mobile apps: multiple-choice polls don’t seem to be working correctly right now. You may need to refresh this post or restart the app to be able to vote for more than one option.

Hey Patrons! In this poll there are some options for potential side content in v2.4.0! Just like with v2.3.0, I want to keep this update fairly focused, so these additions are relatively small.

The results of this poll will help me determine what side content to prioritize in v2.4.0.

---

Please vote for all the options that you like, not just for your one favourite! I allow multiple votes as it means that a higher proportion of people will end up voting for the winning choice.

All patrons are encouraged to share their opinion by commenting and voting, but currently only the votes from Golden+ Supporters are counted when determining a poll winner. Votes from Shattered Supporters are worth double!

Custom Notes

Custom notes are something that players have been asking about for a very long time. Custom notes would likely live in the journal page, potentially merging with landmark functionality. The player would be able to make a certain number of custom notes, assign them to a floor (current floor would be the default), and assign an icon to them. As an important note, I am strongly considering making this a supporter feature, though a small number of note slots might be available to all players.

New Badges

Just as with last update, I think there’s room to iteratively add a few badges to the game, mostly focused around challenging accomplishments for experienced players. While I think the recently added quests are an obvious badge oppourtunity, there are other places they could be added as well. Some examples could include a couple simple badges for trinket creation and upgrading, and I also have a fun idea for a very tricky badge involving the pickaxe.

T1 Talent Changes

I’m quite happy with the recent changes to some T2 talents and think there’s room to do some improving down at T1 as well. In particular, the Warrior and Mage’s on-ID talents are not very popular, and I might just replace them entirely with more direct effects. Hearty meal is also a bit too complex atm, and so I might like to simplify it to a single HP threshold trigger. Lastly, cached rations is notably less popular than the other T1 food talents, I think giving it a more unique item might help with that.

Item Spritework Improvements

Along with all the other alchemy changes in v2.4, I’d like to also look into improving some of the alchemy item sprites. In particular spell shapes could be improved, but elixirs and brews could also be made more visually interesting.

New Room Types

Lastly, it’s been a little while since levelgen was expanded at all, and the last time I added rooms was received very well, crystal key memes aside. I don’t have a specific plan yet, but might like to focus a bit more on standard rooms instead of special rooms this time. Ideally that would mean one more standard room type per region, which would further push out the current boring empty rooms.

Comments

Some new basic room variations would be great for keeping it from getting too repetitive. I also liked the suggestion to have some small badges that highlight humorous but slightly embarrassing events.

tekman7d0

New rooms is great, but hero changes and tweaks are my favorite.

Veek

I'm just happy to get new content. 😂

Chewyou

I would like more rooms, I voted for it, but I also would like more badges for unique happenstances, like dying right after beating yog or dying while yog is within 10 hitpoints of death. Funny little things, but it would be an embarrassing bragging right.

Little Trans Punk

A suggestion for new badges: create (or use) every potion and every scroll (including exotic versions). It would encourage exploring some of the further branches of the alchemy tree.
