Tormented Spirits and Phantom Piranhas | Patreon Weekly #204
Added 2023-05-01 17:00:09 +0000 UTCHey Patrons, in this weekly I’ve got some progress to share with new exotic enemies in v2.1.0!
This weekly also has an audio Q&A in it! Go and give it a listen if you’d like. You can find audio timestamps at the end of this weekly.
New Exotic Enemies!
Over the last week or so I’ve been busy with a bit of back and forth following Shattered’s release on GOG and Itch. The game now properly shows up on Itch search, the soundtrack is available on GOG, and the GOG release no longer whines when you try to launch it on macOS.
In addition to that, I’ve also fully implemented two new exotic enemies that were voted in during a prior Patreon Poll!

Tormented spirits are otherwise good spirits which have been twisted by evil magic. They are notably stronger than wraiths (still 1 hp though) and will grant you a reward if you can free them from their curse. Using a scroll of remove curse while next to them will generate a random weapon or armor that is guaranteed to be uncursed and send the spirit to a pleasant afterlife. Of course, you could also decide to just kill them, you monster.
Tormented spirits replace 1 in every 100 wraiths (as wraiths are more common than other mobs in general) but will not show up in cases where wraiths can spawn forever, to prevent farming.

Phantom piranhas are a piranha replacement with a bit of magic in addition to their nasty bite. They have the same stats as a regular piranha but can teleport whenever they are attacked. If they’re unable to reach you, this teleport will place them in a random place in the dungeon, but if you’re next to water they’ll teleport right next to you and attack! They also take 1/2 damage when teleporting, to further enhance their slipperiness. They’ll even teleport away if you manage to pull them onto land.
Phantom piranhas replace 1 in every 50 piranhas and drop the exotic phantom meat! This meat can be used in place of a pasty for alchemy, or eaten directly for a major benefit. When eaten, the meat fully restores satiety and grants all the benefits of frozen carpaccio at once! That’s: 1/4 HP heal, curing most harmful effects, 20 turns of invisibility, and 1/4 HP of barkskin.
