Small Addition Second Chance | Patreon Poll #34

Hey Patrons!

As I mentioned in v1.4.0’s announcement, I want to focus v2.0.0 almost entirely on the duelist. While I think the side content polls I’ve been regularly running have been great for the game, they’ve also bloated the size of updates a little. So, for v2.0.0 I’m scaling things back a bit and offering some smaller additions to start. Once v2.0.0 is further in development we might see a poll or two focusing on the Duelist herself!

This poll includes six pieces of small side content that did well in a previous poll but didn’t quite make it. You might notice that I’ve tweaked some of these designs compared to their original incarnations in previous polls.

The strength of support for each option will determine which if these will be added as smaller side content in v2.0.0!

FrostFire Brew

Made with a frost potion, liquid flame potion, and alchemical catalyst. Frostfire is both a reference to a game Watabou made after Pixel Dungeon, and an old combination brew from before I removed them. Frostfire will create a special type of flame that cannot be extinguished, lasts longer, and inflicts chill as well as dealing damage!

Sprouting Trap

These nature-themed traps cause magical roots to grow in a moderately sized AOE around themselves, sprouting up high grass, a couple plants, and rooting anything that’s in their effect. The plants and grass are obviously helpful but getting suddenly rooted in place might be pretty harmful. Of course, the trap can do the same to enemies as well.

Crystalized Fortune

Made with gold and an arcane catalyst. This spell allows the player to convert their gold into a chance for extra loot, instead of spending it in the shop. When used, this spell will briefly grant a buff that strongly boosts enemy drop rates! The player will get multiple uses of the spell, but will be encouraged to try and time it around defeating multiple enemies at once, to maximize the benefit.

Tar Trap

These traps spread icky black tar around themselves when activated. The tar doesn’t do any harm on its own, but is quite difficult to move through, crippling anything that stands in it for a few turns. While the trap only activates once, the tar it produces will last forever, or at least until it burns?

Phantom Piranhas

These strange piranhas are a rare variant that would randomly replace regular piranhas. When damaged or moved onto land, phantom piranhas are able to flee by teleporting to a random body of water somewhere else in the dungeon. This makes them a little chaotic and hard to finish off, but when defeated these piranha will drop phantom meat, which fully restores hunger and grants all of the bonuses from frozen carpaccio at once! These piranha are a reference to the phantom fish quest from vanilla Pixel Dungeon.

Tormented Spirits

These rare red wraiths are otherwise good spirits who have been afflicted by a curse and can be saved if a remove curse scroll is used while next to them. If they are freed, they will drop a random piece of equipment that is guaranteed to be uncursed. Tormented spirits can be treated just like regular wraiths, or they can be used to trade a scroll of remove curse for their equipment reward. To prevent farming, tormented spirits cannot be spawned by corpse dust or a cursed dried rose.
