Pin Delivery! | Patreon Weekly #126

Hey Patrons!

It’s another short weekly this week. I’m out of town helping with some family stuff, and so don’t have a whole lot of time for Patreon writing or Shattered development at the moment. I had known about this commitment for a while, but the amount of free time I have had in the hotel room is much, much less than I was expecting. I’m going to be done with these commitments in another couple of days though, and will get back to work then.

Despite that, I do still have some news on v1.1.0, and on those patreon-exclusive pins!

A little v1.1.0 Progress

I’ve managed to complete a couple of things on v1.1.0 this week, here’s one of them:

Now that alchemical energy is created by the player, I’m strongly considering no longer tying it to alchemy pots themselves, and instead having it be a currency item like gold. I might also change the name to something like ‘alchemy crystals’ to better indicate that it’s a physical object now.

Here’s an example of how that might look in the inventory interface. On the top is the default (with no alchemical energy), and on the bottom is what the interface would look like if the player had energy.

The Pins Have Arrived!

Earlier this week, I got a big shipment of pins! I haven’t yet inspected all of them, but it looks like they’re turned out very well indeed!

I’m very happy with how these turned out, the only notably flaw is that the plain and glitter designs are using a fairly reflective black metal, so they can end up looking a bit silvery in lower lighting conditions, as the metal catches much more light than the enamel.

In total I’ve had 150 plain, 100 glitter, and 50 gold/black pins made, which I anticipate will last for at least two years before more need to be made. The pins are going to be numbered, with the longest standing Patrons getting the first pins! I’m also reserving few pins from the end of each set to give to friends and family.

I’ll be sending out another mass message reminder soon, but if you qualify for a pin and want to ensure you get a pin with a lower number, make sure to enter your mailing address! Long-standing Patrons without a mailing address will lose their spot!

As mentioned previously, the plain/glitter/black pins will go the patrons as a physical reward after 1/2/3 years of patronage. I still have some more work to do before shipping the pins out (cards for numbering them, and mailing supplies), but if all goes well I plan to start sending the pins out toward the middle of end of this month!
