v0.9.2 Patches | Patreon Weekly #92

Hey Patrons!

A significant amount of my time this week was tied up with working on v0.9.2 patches and various other obligations. Because of that I don’t have a lot of progress to report on v0.9.3, but I do have a new content poll and some news on v0.9.2a!

Also, I’m probably going to do a survey soon on the general state of the Patreon. I’m not unhappy with how anything is going, but I want to gather some feedback on the current state of the content I produce here, what you guys value the most, and what might need adjusting. In particular I feel there’s untapped potential in the Patreon livestreams.

v0.9.2a

I spent quite a bit of time last week on v0.9.2a, which is going to beta users in a couple hours. Here’s a breakdown of what’s coming:

v0.9.2a is coming with one significant new feature: support for Greek! The folks over on Transifex finished a Greek translations shortly before v0.9.2 released, but I needed to take extra time to add support for Greek characters to the game’s pixel font. I talked a bit about this in the previous Patreon Livestream(starts just after an hour in), and have now added pixelated versions of all the needed Greek characters:

v0.9.2a also fixes various bugs added in v0.9.2, including a nasty one where effects like burning would rarely trigger many times in one turn. There were also a couple cases where newly added talents wouldn’t work, such as bounty hunter sometimes not triggering in melee range and excess charge not working if the Mage’s Staff is overcharged.

Lastly, v0.9.2a has some balance changes! V0.9.2 has actually ended up significantly better balanced than expected, so with a few exceptions the balance changes are mostly minor. For subclasses, the berserker and freerunner both have balance room to increase the uptime on their abilities, so both getting more lax cooldowns. The freerunner in particular now gets a lower cooldown when only using a little momentum, instead of a longer one.

Talents are also getting adjusted, but most of the changes are just little numbers tweaks. Nothing seems to be too much of an outlier now, so I plan to wait for more balance data to roll in over the next month or so while I work on v0.9.3, and then roll any needed changes in v0.9.3.
