Work on 0.7.4 is well underway at this point. The sad ghost AI improvements are finished, wand of living earth is fully working short of some polish, and wand of warding is working in a fairly basic form.

Today I wanted to share something that's also coming in 0.7.4: another wave of alchemy balance adjustments, this time focused around bomb recipes. Currently boss bombs, holy bombs, and firebombs are doing well, and the rest need varying degrees of help.

The following bombs are getting more mild buffs: Frost Bomb, Regrowth Bomb, and Shock Bomb. I'm mainly focusing on taking the existing mechanics of these bombs and amping them up a little. Frost Bombs will instantly freeze in addition to chilling an area, Regrowth Bombs will heal more and spawn more plants, and Shock Bombs will lash out bolts of energy which damage and stun for a long duration, rather than creating a shocking field that repeatedly stuns for small amounts.

These bombs are getting more major adjustments/buffs: Woolly Bomb, Noisemaker, and Flashbang. You might notice that all of the bombs that need lots of help don't deal direct damage, so the first thing I'm doing is fixing that and letting all of these bombs deal regular damage. In addition to that, Woolly bombs will still surround targets with sheep, noisemakers will now attract enemies to them and detonate when something steps on them, and flashbangs will affect a smaller area, but will both disorient and damage enemies caught in them.

In addition to these, I'm also giving out buffs to stones of clairvoyance and wild energy spells. Clairvoyance is getting a radius increase to 10 from 8 (which increases the area by ~56%), and wild energy will grant 4 turns of charge immediately and then 8 over time, instead of just 10 over time.

None of these changes are 100% locked in yet, but I'm pretty confident that this will substantially improve bombs as a category. Feel free to let me know what you think!

Yeah the main reason why I decided to give a bit more of a rework to that one is because there wasn't really a way to buff it without making it too good at directly fighting enemies. I wanted the main benefit of the item to be funneling a bunch of enemies to one location, but a single alert already did that fairly adequately. If it alerted enemies more consistently it would become a debuff like cripple or stun in lots of situations.

Frost bomb buffs sound great! The change to shock sounds interesting, would it work like the enchant with its arcs?

Noisemaker buffs are nice, but I guess that particular one isn't really what I was expecting. I guess I would have liked it to be better at its job; it wasn't particularly good at drawing enemies given that they lose interest quickly, thus, I'd have liked it to pulse more frequently. Also, the ability to pick it up while it is pulsing, or even carry it, would be cool. Having it explode on contact like a landmine is cool though, I'll give you that.
