First Blood (1982) * FULL LENGTH REACTION

Are you ready for some action?

Going in, I thought this was just an action movie. I was pleasantly surprised!!

I don't think I've seen one actor's movies this much in ... ever! Stallone in Rocky/Creed and now this?!

It's all been enjoyable though!!

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the movie.  You can set picture in picture by right clicking twice on the video and selecting "Picture in picture". The right clicking twice is a bit tricky, because you have to right click, then move your cursor so it's not on the menu, then right click again

I hope you enjoy, and know that I appreciate you!!!

As always, if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, concerns, just feel like sharing... don't hesitate!! 😁

Ahh, I didn't know it was based on a novel! Thanks for the info about veterans, I'm not very well versed in that era of war

This film differs considerably from the novel which was set in Kentucky and cast Rambo in a more unsympathetic way. Rambo deliberately kills a number of deputies and refuses to take many chances to escape preferring the rush of battle. The novel ends with Teasle dying from his wounds after fatally injuring Rambo who finally dies after Trautman shoots him in the head. Originally Kirk Douglas was cast as Trautman but quit when the studio refused to use the books ending. Stallone forced changes to the script to make Rambo sympathetic and never directly kills anyone. When the novel was written in 1972 the war was extremely unpopular and returning veterans were treated like trash. When Reagan was elected president, he made it a point to heal the wounds from the war and changed the way we honored our vets regardless of the popularity of the war which continues to this day.

It's really interesting to see what movies become classics and cult classics. I can see why people love this movie, mostly because of the last 5-10 minutes though. To me, that's what sets it apart from other action movies

I’ve never understood why this film is such a classic. It just never appealed to me. As far as which I prefer Stallone or Arnold that’s a tough one. Rocky is the one franchise of Stallone that I adore and with Arnold it’s terminator. On the aggregate maybe Arnold. There’s a film of his called “Last Action Hero” of his that was panned by critics but which I adore and has become a cult classic. It’s basically a parody of all the action movie cliches that both men have in their films and pokes fun at their rivalry a bit.
