Firefly Episode 2 *FULL LENGTH REACTION

This has got to be one of the best shows ever!  And of course, a nice little train heist ๐Ÿ˜

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this show, I've actually tried to find things that I dislike and I can't.  The characters are so great and it's a joy to see them work together or even bicker.

I love that Mal does end up doing the right thing in the end, which is obviously NOT what Jayne would be doing if he was captain.  I'm curious to see if he'll be even more rude to Simon after this episode ๐Ÿคฃ

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the episode.  Also know there is an extension that allows you to do Picture-in-Picture in case you are interested: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-extens/hkgfoiooedgoejojocmhlaklaeopbecg?hl=en

On to the next one!!

Firefly Episode 2 *FULL LENGTH REACTION

Comments

I really appreciate Mal, he's not doing things for recognition or bragging rights. He's such a great character and leader

Verowak

I'm so excited!!!! ๐Ÿคฉ

So glad you find these episodes amazing. If you believe this show cannot get ever better, I have good news for you...it can!

Firefly was cancelled unceremoniously mid-season, so it is not a proper full season. As for the "Hands of Blue" guys, the following is my understanding of an undeveloped storyline based on closely following this 'verse. The 'verse has planets and moons that revolve around multiple suns. There is a white sun, a yellow sun, and a blue sun which is consistent with stars burning at different temperatures. The blue sun region is where the Blue Sun mega-conglomerate corporation is headquartered. They make everything including coffee, cans of food and basically anything "under the sun". Their logo pops up in background shots and even on t-shirts. It was a Blue Sun coffee can that was used to make the "cry-baby" diversion tool used in the pilot episode (you can read the word "caffeine" on the cry-baby device). The Blue Sun corporation is more powerful than the Alliance government. The subtext is that the Blue Sun Corp was behind the "academy" that experimented on River. It is the agents of the Blue Sun corporation that are the "Hands of Blue" guys. As for this series and Mal "doing the right thing", there is a special element present in this show. It is easier to do the right thing when you can afford to do so. For example, it was nice that Superman "did the right thing" by helping people, but was rarely in any personnel danger unless confronted with something like Kryptonite. What is compelling about this show is that they do the right thing even when they can not afford to do so. In this episode, Niska is a serious danger yet they cross him anyway. This is a special type of heroism that defines Mal.

Reusing props makes perfect sense, and neat that it was done!

Verowak

I haven't seen many heist movies/shows, just mostly seen variations of a train heist (Solo, Firefly, Andor, there are more but I think a lot of them are cartoons/tv series). I just like it when the stakes are high, and heists seem like a situation where that is most likely true

Verowak

Is it just train heists or do you like all sorts of heist plot movies/shows?

JAKH

The helmets and body armor of the Alliance soldiers are left over props from the movie "Starship Troopers".

JAKH

I completely understand why, even after just 2 episodes! The interactions between the crew are amazing. They are so real and fun

Verowak

An episode a week just means we have 15 weeks (14 episodes and 1 movie). That's not enough! ๐Ÿ˜

Verowak

It's a great concept, and definitely one that is being done amazingly so far

Verowak

Wait, what?! That is so silly! That must have been so weird to watch. Hopefully that producer was fired

Verowak

I definitely do! They are all so different and enjoyable for different reasons

Verowak

OH no! Disney+ has previously on, and I'm always tempted to skip. I'll try to set it up to show the episode after the "previously on" is done

Verowak

If you think you care about the characters now, you're in for a ride. I can't count how often I've seen these episodes. Sometimes I put them on not for the story, but to just spend some time hanging out with my crew.

John

And now the term, โ€œBrown Coatโ€ is made known to you. Welcome to the club. You mentioned how you wish there were multiple seasons of Firefly. Youโ€™re already ahead of schedule! Is there anything better than starting the week off with the crew of Serenity? I canโ€™t think of anything else. โ€œI aim to misbehaveโ€

Billy Dancel

Joss Whedon described the concept for the show as "Imagine the Star Wars universe if the Rebel Alliance had lost."

John

Can you imagine this was the first episode they aired? Some producer decided the original pilot didn't have enough action, so "The Train Job" became the new pilot and "Serenity" (the previous episode) was aired LAST. The rest of the season was all over the place. They did this show really dirty.

snthd

This ep really shows off every characters... character if you know what I mean.

Ashley

uh oh. my copy of the show does not have a previously on. this is gonna be difficult to sync.
