Tremors (1990) | FULL LENGTH REACTION

Something wicked this way comes! Another Producer pick!!

First of all Kevin Bacon is so young in this 😁

Also, I really liked Val and Earl's friendship, they were a great pair!!  A completely unexpectedly fun movie, and also would be absolutely terrifying to have to avoid those graboids!  Their poor little slice of perfection being attacked by these creatures.

I loved the setup, the characters and the whole premise, even though I think the graboids should have stopped them in the end, but oh well 😊

Reminder that you need your own copy of the movie to watchalong, and that there is an extension that allows you to do Picture-in-Picture in case you are interested: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-extens/hkgfoiooedgoejojocmhlaklaeopbecg?hl=en

Tremors (1990) | FULL LENGTH REACTION

Comments

I have never heard that concept said so well. And I will be using it.

No need to be sorry at all :D These producer picks have been great, and I have a couple more awesome ones to go through (one being the winner of all the marbles!!) Brain guts is along the lines of me saying "I need to do clothes dishes" when I couldn't think of the word "laundry" 😂

Producer picks have been amazing so far!! A lot of movies I never knew about lol

Verowak

This was a lot of fun and a great reaction, thank you. I believe I did you a disservice with my “even keel” comment, so I’m sorry about that. It’s another movie I’m not sure you would have got to, so I’m really liking these producer picks. “Brain guts” is another new saying to me.

James Hadden

awesome selection 🙂

When you decide to watch "Apollo 13", I would recommend first watching "The Right Stuff" (1983), true story movie about post-war aviation and the beginning of the US space program focusing on the X-plane supersonic program and the NASA Mercury missions (each had a single astronaut, Gemini had 2 per capsule, and Apollo had 3 per capsule). All-star ensemble cast, many actors you have seen already. Won several Academy Awards. There are a number of iconic scenes you may recognize from pop culture that are often replicated or spoofed in other films. After "Apollo 13", there is a very good 12-episode mini-series from HBO on the entire space program called "From the Earth to the Moon"

Oh nice, a lot of movies to choose from! Apollo 13 is one that I want to watch, same with A Few Good Men since Tom Cruise is in it lol

I honestly don't notice credits much. I wish I would, but even if I read them, I'm usually distracted by what's on screen or the music (if it's opening credits) lol

Verowak

It's so fascinating how there's an entire franchise that I haven't heard of like this. I found out that Tremors has a really big cult following also, but I had never heard that there was more than 1 movie 🤣

Verowak

THank you for linking the 30th anniversary documentary in Discord!! It was a great movie, and I think it was done fantastically! I love the use of comedy with the horror aspect lol

Recommended Kevin Bacon movies (ranked): - "Murder in the First" (1995) true story courtroom drama w/ Christian Slater and Bacon's real-life wife Kyra Sedgewick - "Apollo 13" true story about NASA Apollo program, w/ Tom Hanks, Bill Paxton, Ed Harris, & Gary Sinise - "A Few Good Men" (1992) another courtroom drama, based on a stage play. W/ Tom Cruise, Demi Moore, Jack Nicholson, & Kiefer Sutherland. Famous scene recognizable from pop culture - "X-Men: First Class" (2011) 5th in the Marvel X-Men franchise by FOX after "Origins: Wolverine" - secondary roles in the true story movies "Patriot's Day" (2016) about the Boston Marathon bombing, and "Black Mass" (2015) about Irish mobster Whitey Bulger - "Hollow Man" (2000) suspense/thriller - small early role in "Animal House" (1978) Comedy. Good movie but minor fro KB His acting is prolific and diverse enough to be the center of the "Kevin Bacon Game"

Notice in the opening credits that the producer was Gale Anne Hurd ("Aliens", "Terminator", "Terminator 2"). She was the producer on probably half of the successful sci-fi movies of the 1980's, 90's, and 2000's, including the "Walking Dead" TV series and spin-offs. She also helps write, and had a big hand in developing the tough women roles of Ellen Ripley ("Aliens"), Sarah Conner (Terminator series), and the women of TWD. Keep an eye out for her in the credits of other movies that you watch.

"Tremors 2: Aftershocks" & "Tremors 3: Back To Perfection" are both good, each bringing something new to the story. After Trem3, there was a fun 13-episode TV series on the Sci-Fi Channel featuring Dean Norris and the rest of the characters left from "Tremors 3". "Tremors 4: The Legend Begins" is a prequel set in the late 1800's (period costumes!). "tremors 5" is roundly disliked by fans, and doesn't add much to the story. "Tremors 6" and "Tremors 7" were direct-to-Netflix and get mixed reviews from fans.

JAKH

One of the best “B-movies” ever made, because it has several A-level qualities (script and direction choices being the primary ones). Val (Kevin Bacon) and Earl (Fred Ward) truly are great characters, the glue that holds everything together and draws us into the setting so perfectly. Be sure to check out the 30th anniversary documentary (Tremors: Making Perfection) on the official Tremors channel on YouTube!
