The Lion King won!!

It was a close one, with Dune only 1 point behind The Lion King!!

I know some of the songs in The Lion King (thanks to Hans Zimmer playlists πŸ˜‚), so I'm curious to see what this well loved Disney movie has to offer.

This reaction will be recorded and edited for YT in November, and I'll get to see how difficult copyright is for animated Disney movies.

Also, seeing as November is Remembrance Day, I am asking you all for to recommend a single (1) World War 1 movie each.  There will be a poll made by the end of the week for everyone to vote on.  I think the only WW1 movie that I've seen is 1917.

Fun fact, I did a quick Google search to see some WW1 movies, and Wonder Woman came up πŸ˜‚ That is not the kind of movie I'm looking for.

Reminder to just recommend 1 movie (if you recommend more, I will take the top one only).

The Lion King won!!

It would have definitely lost the coin toss. But that wasn't me, I was not the singular person who gave it a chance. It was everyone who actively chose. I wanna say more, but I won't, cause that would turn this into an essay. [Hakuna Matata reference redacted because of real life world situations.]

A Spielberg movie that I've never heard of!

Every vote does count!! Had you not voted, it may not have won the coin toss

'War Horse' (2012) is supposed to be quite good.

Bucky1138

Starring Kirk Douglas, written & directed by Stanley Kubrick. Based on a book of the same name. English language and actors playing French army & uniforms. There is an episode of the anthology TV show "Tales of the Crypt" based on this movie (S3E14 "Yellow", 1991) also starring Kirk Douglas and one of his sons, Eric Douglas, in a role-reversal from the movie. Eric really looks like the young Kirk Douglas from the movie.

The only WWI film I can think of off the top of my head is Steven Spielberg's "War Horse".

Tim Heron

I saw the 1930 and 1979 versions in 10th grade English class, but haven't seen the new version. Good to see a positive recommendation.

JAKH

Boooo why did you ruin the genre when I specifically didn't want to look up anything about it?

Biggsy

1960 = 44 episode TV series 1986 = time-travel sci-fi

Another great choice true story, directed by David Lean, filmed on location in Jordan, starring Peter O'Toole, Alec Guiness, Omar Shariff, & Anthony Quinn. Multiple academy awards, including the score. Would probably be the longest movie you have ever reacted to. - Warning: includes instrumental Prologue/Intro and Intermission. - #2 on my recommended list because of it's length.

"Lawrence of Arabia" (1962). Never seen it myself. But people keep telling me I should. If its picked, this would be a good reason to watch. [Edit] Oh, shoot! I forgot to say that I voted for Lion King and I feel validated! Every vote counts, you guys.

If I need more options, I'll definitely be looking at that list!

I have no idea what Galaxy chocolate is, but I'm interested!

Verowak

πŸ˜‚I have no idea what that is either!!

"The Lighthorsemen" (1987) true story of the Australian Light Horse Regiment at Beer Sheeba in 1918. see also my list of other WW1 true story movies in my comment for "Band of Brothers" Ep 9.

JAKH

That is about Vietnam, not WW1. It is the 2nd in Oliver Stone's Vietnam trilogy after "Platoon"

Ok so looking at the list of WW1 movies to pick out my recommendation, I discovered there's a movie called "Biggles" so I'm picking that without looking up anything about it πŸ˜‚

Biggsy

πŸ˜‚Oh definitely not that movie!

Laxjedi

Not gonna lie, my brain read that as "Blades of Glory" and I was VERY confused before rereading it correctly πŸ˜‚

Verowak

My initial recommendation was already taken, so I’ll go for one that few may know about but definitely should see; β€œPaths of Glory” (1957). If you need more, let me know.

Laxjedi

The 2022 remake of 'All Quiet on the Western Front' is a great watch imo.
