The Terminator (1984) | FULL LENGTH REACTION

It's Wednesday my dudes!!

Come with me if you want to live 😎

Please no spoilers for T2 or any other Terminator movie, and NO "oh if you liked X, wait until T2" type of thing, that is still a spoiler.  No expectation spoilers either.

Well, well well... the Terminator either meant he terminates people, or he terminates computer program via "end task" when it stops working.  It would have made for a very different movie if that was the case.

Honestly, a really interesting story and the actors all did a great job with their characters!  The way that music was done for movies in the 80s is quite different from what I'm used to, so that stood out a lot.  I inwardly laughed a few times because it sounded so cheesy.

I'm really looking forward to T2 since I have no idea what it's about πŸ€”

Reminder that you need your own copy of the movie to watchalong, and that there is an extension that allows you to do Picture-in-Picture in case you are interested: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-extens/hkgfoiooedgoejojocmhlaklaeopbecg?hl=en

Which is your favorite Terminator movie?

The Terminator (1984) | FULL LENGTH REACTION

Comments

There was a re-make, I never saw it, but it didn't get very good reviews, and seems mostly forgotten. The original is classic, I can't wait for you to watch it, it is an interesting movie, part sci Fi, part social commentary (but in a fun way) all leading up to epic awesomeness

Mike

I think I'll end up watching all of them, but may not put them all on YT immediately, so it'll be full length on Patreon lol I haven't seen Robocop, it's one that I want to see (the original, since it seems there's a reboot/remake)

Verowak

You asked about the others, it's hard to answer without spoiling anything, but in general 1-4 are one continuity while 5 & 6 were attempts at reboots. Two is widely considered to be an incredible movie, which hurts 3, as the comparisons will always be made. T3 isn't a bad movie tho, and it makes a nice trilogy in my opinion. You could also just stop at 2, as that's the all James Cameron did & plenty of ppl only consider those two "canon". Have you seen Robocop?

Mike

I agree too, while the extended cut has some cool extras, the theatrical version is best for first time viewing. The extended cut tho can be better for re-watches

Mike

I agree. I feel like this is a case where the the theatrical version really is the best version. The extended versions have some interesting parts, but they also drag the pacing. (And I really don't care for the tone of the alternate coda.)

WastedPo

Movies that get too much hype usually make me worried.

Verowak

Nope 😁

Verowak

For it being made in 1984, I think they did a fantastic job with the mechanical Terminator!

Verowak

It's interesting because the opposite happened with Jurassic Park. I had a LOT of comments saying the third one is weak and not good, but I just recorded it yesterday and I have no idea why people thought it was weak πŸ˜‚ I will say I've always heard that T2 is like one of the best sci-fi movies. There are a few movies from the pre-90s that are always praised :D

Verowak

I was no muscular at all 🀣 I've always been like a stick figure

Verowak

I want to see pictures of Verowak the bodybuilder. 😎

Ian Cano

I'd forgotten how much work went into the Terminator mechanical version. It looks like they used puppetry and animatronics for some scenes and stop-motion for others.

ButtercupsTrueLove

I think I'll not comment on which Terminator film I like the best, as it's sort of a spoiler in itself and sets up expectations that a first time viewer shouldn't have.

ButtercupsTrueLove

The theatrical version is probably the one most widely available for streaming, if that's how folks will be watching along for "T-2".

ButtercupsTrueLove

Whaaaa-? I thought you had seen this already 😁😊

Mannygogou

Yaaaas! An absolute classic movie which I've been looking forward to you experiencing πŸ˜„

Biggsy

Please do the Theatrical version of T2. There's several versions out there that have been released since, including a different ending and it can be confusing. The theatrical version I feel is the gold standard and is the version most people know and have seen.

David Crabtree

I finally got to hear "I'll be back", and never in a million years would I have correctly guessed what kind of scene he says it in 🀣

Verowak

Hi Vero. Here we go.. The Terminator journey has started😁. This is also where the famous "I'll be Back" Sentence came from🀣🀣. Remember, this is over 39 years old already.. but even all this time, its still a amazing movieπŸ‘πŸ‘. ❀❀❀ Ray.
