Clone Wars Episode 418 (085) *FULL LENGTH REACTION

What a fantastic arc!!!!

Just everything about it was great and so interesting to watch!  The biggest disappointment is that Palpatine survived (yes, I know he has to survive, but I like to dream).  I love seeing new technology being used, also!  Like how they were able to look like guards, instead of just putting on their armor, since the armor isn't a "one size fits all" type of thing.

I really feel for Anakin, being betrayed by Obi-Wan like that.  It really, really sucks for him.  This arc was a great way to show his distrust/dislike for the Jedi council and never feeling good enough for them.  And again, we have stupid Palpatine talking to Anakin and saying just the perfect words to get Anakin to question everything.

I do like seeing Dooku fight, but he always has that damn force lightning to just win so easily.

I'm looking forward to having Obi-Wan back as Obi-Wan.

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the episode.  Also know there is an extension that allows you to do Picture-in-Picture in case you are interested: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-extens/hkgfoiooedgoejojocmhlaklaeopbecg?hl=en

Tune in next time for another amazing arc in CLONE WARS!!

That's what I've been saying for so long!! 🤣

The more I watch Clone Wars the more I think the Jedi deserved to be wiped out.

How convenient that Palpatine always gets in these situations. Damn him! I hate how amazing he is at planning and manipulation, he's too good of a villain 😂 I completely get it now, why people say seasons 3 and later things pick up and get more serious, which is awesome! I still love S1-S2 but things are getting pretty damn interesting now!!

I absolutely love Lucas' idea and universe, but like you said, sometimes it didn't come across too great in his movies. I think it's a challenge, but the creators of Clone Wars are doing their best to explain why things happen the way they do, since we get that Anakin doesn't trust the Jedi council 100% and I'm glad that we get to see some reasons why!! I feel like this arc is just the beginning, and it'll just get worst from here on out 😨 I hate the "dark side shrouds everything" it just feels like a such a cop-out. I would still have liked more episodes to show exactly why they didn't want to tell Anakin. Show us why Anakin gets enraged too quickly, and the repercussions from that.

You may notice a trend of Palpatine ending up in situations where either outcomes still benefits him. That is part of his genius when it comes to the long game leading to the empire. Through this show and eventually leading to Episode 3, we've had multiple Anakin/Dooku fights, and every time we get one, you know Palpatine is setting up Anakin to see if he's strong enough to take Dooku out. Dooku wins, all continues as normal. Anakin wins, it's time to speed up the "jedi are taking over" story line. When people were saying in the early seasons that seasons 3 and later are where it really starts getting good...this is the meat of the show. At this point looking back on the first two seasons you can see the shift in tone and quality, and it just keeps getting better.

I really do enjoy this arc, which is a microcosm of a few things; the themes and plot points presented in the Prequels, the Clone Wars series delving deeper into those, and whether or not the delving efforts were ultimately successful. George Lucas will be remembered as one of the most visionary filmmakers, and one of the best story/ideas persons, in the history of cinema; unfortunately, of the few times he wrote his own screenplays, some of those were lacking in certain important aspects (primarily dialogue, character development, and handling of plot devices). Thus we have the creatives behind the Clone Wars wrestling with some of those major ideas from the Prequels, and trying to correct or improve the shortcomings in the original writing. In this arc (and many others), the creatives do a really good job in demonstrating some of the ways in which a wedge is being driven between Anakin and the Jedi Council (and Obi-Wan), and how he is being manipulated into his full distrust of them and into giving into his darker urges. They have far more trouble in overcoming the “incompetence of the Jedi Council” obstacle created by Lucas, which is something that was never really properly explored in the Prequels (and I won’t accept any “expanded universe explains it better” nor “the dark side shrouds everything so maybe we’re supposed to think that the Jedi are just brain blind” counterpoints; that just demonstrates writing mistakes in the original screenplays). I have no issue with the Jedi being incompetent; you just have to do a better job showing the how and why (and preferably don’t overtly tell, but I’ll accept it in a show that skews to a younger audience). This arc (along with past ones) “tries” to flesh some of this out by showing some of the deceptions and manoeuvres that were taking place, but missed the opportunity to go into the mindset of the Jedi, so we have yet to truly see why the Jedi are “brain blind”. Discussion to be continued in future arcs/episodes!

The Jedi are basically handing Anakin to Palpatine on a silver platter with this stunt that they pulled. Damn Palpatine being so sly and having a way with words, he knew exactly how to manipulate Anakin!!

Verowak

Massive betrayal!! Obi-Wan, how could you?! As a massive Obi-Wan fan, I am not happy with him, at all. That idiot!

Verowak

There have definitely been some small things through this series that add to the disconnect between the jedi council and Anakin, but what happened here has been the biggest contributor so far. It seems that Palpatine's efforts to sway Anakin away from the likes of the jedi are all too easy.

This I feel was quite possibly Obi-Wan's greatest betrayal against Anakin. You're not supposed to play with someone's feelings, let alone those of the orphan boy that sees you as a father figure. Anyway, thank the stars the chancellor is safe.
