Secret Invasion Episode 1 - Season 1 *FULL LENGTH

Another Wednesday reaction!!

The first Marvel reaction on the channel, and I'm liking the style of this series so far.

For the edited version, I will have a different outro, since I've rewatched the episode and have noticed a few more things (like Beric Dondarrion from Game of Thrones is the dude with the awesome voice, and Krennic from Rogue One is in this!).  I just haven't had the time to record the new outro yet.

I have to be honest, it's been a while since I've seen anything Marvel related, so I feel like I've probably missed some information that I should have known.  Nonetheless, I also feel like it's introducing everything pretty well during this episode, so I'm not worried about missing anything important.

Let me know if you'll be watching Secret Invasion and if you've been keeping up with the Marvel Universe ๐Ÿคฉ

Reminder that you need your own copy of the movie to watchalong, and that there is an extension that allows you to do Picture-in-Picture in case you are interested: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-extens/hkgfoiooedgoejojocmhlaklaeopbecg?hl=en

Secret Invasion Episode 1 - Season 1 *FULL LENGTH

Comments

A TV series showing the every day person instead of the special characters in the universe is great! It felt like Andor in a way, since the focus shifted from superheroes/jedi to just normal humans. That's what I was thinking with Skrulls being present, Marvel could just make any character be a Skrull whenever they want and it all still fits in the universe lol Thank you for the suggestions, and bonus that they are not many seasons. I do love animated series, and I've been thinking of either diving into Marvel of DC animated series after Star Wars.

I saw that it will be available in August, so I'll have to plan for it!

I would love for you to do a Guardians 3 Reaction. I loved that movie so much and have been waiting for it to hit stream to rewatch!

I really do like this take on the Secret Invasion in that it's more focused on the everyday person rather than Superhero's something the comic dived more into. COMIC SPOILERS: In the comics the motivation for the invasion is the destruction of the Skrull Empire in the 2007 "Annihilation" storyline where Galactus pretty much destroys the Skrull Throneworld . Annihilation is also the introduction of the Guardian of the Galaxy members you know from the MCU who would later be introduced as The Guardians of the Galaxy in 2008. Iron Man, Mister Fantastic, Namor, Black Bolt, Professor Charles Xavier and Doctor Strange who are members of the Illuminati secretly confront the Skrulls. They attack the Skrull Empire, and warn that any future invasion attempts of Earth would mean further reprisals; however, the hero's are all captured and intensely studied before escaping. Veranke then Empress, and guides an invasion of Earth, armed with the knowledge of superhumans gained from having studied the Illuminati. The Skrulls capture several superhumans and infiltrate Earth's defenses, with Veranke herself posing as heroine Spider-Woman. And thus the Secret Invasion begun with the Skrulls slowly taking over important people and hero's throughout Earth. In the end Veranke is then shot and killed by Norman Osborn while the last remnants of the Skrull armada are destroyed. Norman Osborn is placed in charge of S.H.I.E.L.D's replacement, H.A.M.M.E.R., and forms a secret group consisting of himself, Emma Frost, Namor, Doctor Doom, The Hood and Loki which brings us to the "Dark Reign" storyline where villains pretty much in control. END OF SPOILERS: The storyline goes as far back as Civil War (2006) with many fans theorizing that the Civil War event was secretly caused by Skrulls. It also added as a fun way for Marvel to explain why some characters were acting different as they could simply write in that they were Skrulls this whole time. In reality it was just a different writer taking over who maybe didn't understand the character or brought his own ideas on how they should act. So as you can see it's very different to what we have so far in this show. It also has to connect to the history of the MCU and so far it's done a very good job at allowing us to look back to past films and think "Wait a minute so maybe this is why this character did that... Maybe that's why the president wanted new control in Wakanda in Black Panther 2 as he's actually a Skrull trying to create conflicts" Marvel recommend: The Spectacular Spider-Man (2 Seasons) Wolverine And The X-Men (1 Season) Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Hero's (2 Seasons) These shows are animated and all apart of the same shared universe with The Spectacular Spider-Man being up for debate, originally it was planned but they never got around to it. There also very short only two Seasons or less with both Avengers and Wolverine being cancelled before a next Season. May be a fun watch as they don't really have much reactions to them on youtube and would be something new for you to dive into, Animated Marvel.
