Star Wars Episode 9 - The Rise of Skywalker *FULL LENGTH*

This is the end 😭

The end of the sequels, and though I have a lot of criticism for it, I still liked it!  To me, there are really epic moments that made the movie really amazing, and there are some parts that don't make much sense, or feel forced (lol).

While doing the edit, I realized I completely forgot to record my thoughts for the ending, so I'll be doing that today and incorporating it into the YT edited version, but here are my thoughts:

- I was never a huge fan of Kylo Ren in general, except when he got angry.  I loved seeing him angry.  This movie made me really like Kylo Ren's turn to the light.  I love seeing Ben Solo.  I don't know if it's the character or seeing Adam Driver's acting, but he was much more enjoyable after he became a good guy, just his facial expressions and demeanor made me really enjoy his scenes.
- I LOVE that Rey gave Ben the lightsaber that way!!!!
- Having Rey hear all the previous Masters was absolutely fantastic!! It's like in anime when you have all the main character's loved ones put their hands on their shoulder for support 😭
- I loved Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine... I don't like him as Emperor.  In any movie.  The portrayal just feels too much like a caricature and overly done.
- I'm sad that Ben died.  Just when I was finally enjoying seeing him in scenes, he sacrifices himself.
- It felt like there was forced romantic scenes in this movie which were completely unnecessary.  Finn's "Rey, I never told you..." felt like a love confession, especially since he doesn't want to say it when they survive.  Poe's thing with Zorii... meh.  Rey and Ben's kiss... really wasn't needed.
- Rey being a Skywalker makes sense, she was basically adopted by them and trained by them.  I'm fine with her choosing their last name, it's sweet.  I would have also been fine if she stayed just Rey too.
- The animals running on top of the destroyers was.... stupid.

I would love for an animated series to be made between episode 6 and episode 7 to expand on what happened between those years.  There is a lot of information that we got in this movie that could be explained or expanded upon in a series.  Seeing Luke, Leia, Han and Chewie's stories during this time would be pretty neat, also!  I'm hoping, but have no idea if it will ever happen.

Overall, the sequels were really enjoyable, and I'm really glad to have watched them!  It really goes to show that you should never listen to others 😁

It would be really neat if the Star Wars universe could have a "What If" animated series like Marvel has.  That could be so much fun!!

Is there a "What If" scenario that you would like to see in Star Wars?  (example: What if Anakin didn't turn to the Dark Side?  What if Qui-Gon Jinn survived?  What if Ben Solo didn't give in to the darkness?)

Also, I'll be having a Discord hangout on Saturday April 15th at 3pm EST/8pm UTC.  I would love to see you there, the plan is to chat, and perhaps play some party games!

Have a great rest of week 🤩

"I loved the prequels for the darker tone though because in the end Anakin's story is a tragedy. " The Prequels are not about anakin. The whole Story is about anakin. And the sequels just did his story absolute no favor. It's no secret, that kathleen kennedy wanted a female protagonist at the top of star wars. She wanted it so badly, that they had to design a overpowered rey. It's not about being female, we have many great female characters in star wars, it's about the design of a character who has no flaws and can do everything without even learning it. When i watched it, the whole cinema was either laughing or cursing when rey named herself skywalker. Not even ahoska would call herself that and rey just threw it out with knowing leia and luke for about a year. That's just poor writing. The "grand daughter" of the man who destroyed anakin's life, padme's life and literally the whole jedi order, takes the name of the chosen one because she feels like it. And then miss kennedy is so in her female sight, that she even doesnt wanted to have hayden around for the movie. Star Wars is not the first trilogy that got busted by a director and their ego.

I think that's the thing that stood out the most for me, is that this movie felt like a direct reaction to the outrage of The Last Jedi, which is very weird. It really seems like a lot of people have very extreme views, either love it or hate it, nothing in between, and that's a shame. The majority of my audience is in the US, so I know there's a lot of hate for Disney and how they're making live action movies. I love the way you put it, it felt like a fairy tale with epic, cinematic quality. That's what Star Wars is to me in the end (at least the original trilogy). I loved the prequels for the darker tone though because in the end Anakin's story is a tragedy. It's so nice to see when people enjoyed the sequels!! There are so many different things to love about each trilogy

Interesting, Kelvar. I didn't know that about there being so much extra footage shot for this movie. I would definitely love a director's cut, if for nothing else, the world was gorgeous to look at. Even though I feel like the entire plotline of Rise of Skywalker movie felt forced (and I really suspect it was because the executives were shocked and panicked after the toxic reaction to The Last Jedi). And even though the script had some missed opportunities, I overall really appreciate the vibe of the sequel trilogy. Much moreso than most people do. I think people went way overboard with the hate for the Disney era, and I'm sure some of that is more psychologically motivated than a reflection of independent thought. By that, I mean, people these days simply can't say, 'Well, I liked this aspect, but that aspect was weaker.' They have to take a hardline stance to hate EVERYTHING associated with a company or a person--to the degree that it becomes part of their identity. (I mean, some people make their living on Youtube riling people up over how 'woke' everything is now.) I personally think the aesthetic of this whole series is amazing, and the acting was across the board great, even if the scripts sometimes didn't give the characters consistent arcs. For me, at least in tone and aesthetic, the sequels recaptured the magic of the original trilogy. (I'm an O.G. fan.) They truly felt like a fairy tale and had that epic, cinematic quality. This is coming from someone who felt the Prequels robbed the franchise of that sense of myth and magic.

Yes! IRL is to be taken much more seriously, movies are for enjoyment. If a movie makes you angry, probably best to distance yourself from it lol Oh all of it was CGI? I suck at noticing CGI, I don't look at details lol. Re-casting her would have been absurd and caused even MORE hate. I read that they had to change a lot of the movie because of her passing. I would be curious to see what they had originally thought. It seems like I'm the only one who wasn't a fan of Ian McDiarmid as the emperor, which is fine. I would have loved for the writers to be more creative, but alas, that's not the case :( Ahh saying he could feel the Force. I feel like it would have been nice for him to say it earlier, and I have no idea why he didn't just tell her. It doesn't really make sense. THE SHIP PULLING WAS AMAZING!!! I'm so glad it happened!!!! That is easily one of my top 5 scenes in Star Wars. I would love all movies to have director's cuts. I just want more footage and more story, especially for Star Wars.

1. I didn't know it was Mustafar, that's pretty neat. I like how they come back to previous locations. 2. I like how they did that! I would not have connected the two had I not read it though lol 3. I just went back to look, and that's so neat! 4. Nice!!! I love how he came back :D 5. Ahhh, fanservice, got it lol That makes sense now 6. I actually noticed that when editing earlier this week and put a "*suns" text when I notice I say moons lol I blame it being late and not thinking straight!

Revealed in Fortnite?! What the actual hell?! That's just silly lol So the whole Emperor returning isn't a completely random thing if you're up to speed with Star Wars lore. I personally movies that make sense without needing additional books or content, so for a movie only watcher, it felt very weird for the most part. I like all the different types of troopers (clone, storm, sith) and it feels like a nice addition for those who are aware of the differences and know the lore. I had to look up what Sith troopers were :D I have no idea how Lando could have possibly gathered so many people for the final battle lol. It looked intimidating, but doesn't make much sense, along with the massive fleet on Exegol. They could have sent a couple to intercept the Rebels in Episode 8 to destroy them all 😂 The amount of hate the sequels get is disheartening. It's really nice to see when people love the sequels though because movies don't deserve the sheer hatred given to these movies. I'm fine with people not liking it, but people take it to a whole new level lol

I would love to see the Emperor be surprised!! Something isn't going the way he planned 😈

Interesting ride over the 9 movies. Glad to see you liked them. I think every fan should see them all and make up their own minds. I can see the arguments from those who like and dislike the sequels, in the end these are just movies. I take irl much more seriously. 😊 Carrie Fisher did not act in this movie at all. She had already passed before the release of the Last Jedi. All of her scenes were cgi with her lines extracted from unused footage from the Force Awakens. Not a fan of them doing this but I guess they were stuck. Leia was originally slated to die in this film and they had no actress and of course they were not going to re-cast her. I loved Ian McDiarmid in all of the movies he was in, just sayin 😊. I am not a fan of bringing villains back to life. Unless they were immortal in the first place. Especially after the way Maul and Palpatine “died”. I would like to think the writers could be more creative. Finn’s “I never told you” was not a love confession from what I understand. Instead, he was going to say he could feel the Force. I am not sure if the scene was cut or was part of the story but never shot. I was waiting for your reaction to that ship pulling Force use, it was priceless. J.J. Abrams shot a LOT of footage for this. The original length of this movie was going to be at least an hour longer I hear, but there’s no way you can have a 3+ hour theatrical release. I am hoping for a director’s cut at least. The Mandalorian and the Book of Boba Fett take place soon after episode 6 so there is some beginning to the backstory between episodes 6 and 7.

Some refreshment 1 : The planet we start on where Kylo Ren slays all the people is Mustafar where Anakin was burned and where he later put his castle (Vader’s Castle). Vader's Castle is briefly shown in Rouge One when Director Krennic chokes on his aspirations. 2 : The Aki-Aki festival on the desert planet is held once every 42 years which at the time of this film releasing was exactly the time episode IV came out (1977) but you saw this in the Trivia 3 : The old man bartender on Kijimi that is shown for a short fragment is a cameo by the legendary John Williams himself 4: Yes when the Resistance fleet shows up you can indeed see Ewan’s uncle who reprises his old role of Wedge Antilles 5 : The medal Chewie receives at the end is the medal he never got in episode IV (some fan service for people being mad when chewie didn’t get his at the end of the first movie) 6 : Reminder that Tattoine has 2 suns and they are not moons ;)

What if Anakin left the Jedi Order with Ahsoka Tano

So the Emperors return message hinted at in the opening crawl was actually revealed in Fortnite of all things. Would've been great to hear that message through a montage of different planets in the film itself or even as a tease at the end of Last of Skywalker. Message link - https://youtu.be/4u0ejXC7kFs?t=23 The idea of The Emperor returning from Cloning himself is pulled right out of Dark Empire which depicted a restoration of the Galactic Empire located in the Deep Core and led by the reborn Emperor Palpatine when they revealed themselves in 10 ABY so just around 8 years after Return of the Jedi. In terms of the Sith Eternal they're an interesting concept with the Sith Eternal being a safeguarded secret, even those in the upper echelons of the First Order unaware of their operation so in many ways the Sith Eternal was the hidden spiritual heart of the First Order. I loved the Sith troopers, Sith troopers aren't a new concept dating back to the Sith Empire featured in games like Knights of the Old Republic during the Jedi Civil War these troopers being founded in 4980 BBY. There made up of Legions with each Legion being named after a famous Sith for example the 3rd Legion, also known as the Revan Legion. Raven was a Sith introduced in Knights of the Old Republic so that's a really cool detail. One aspect I dislike is the Final Order fleet made up of Xyston-class Star Destroyers secretly constructed by Sith cultists on Exegol. There basically just Imperial I-class Star Destroyers using the model from Rogue One but upscaling it and slapping a mini Death Star Laser underneath. Seems like they ran out of time and just had to reuse assets as the concept art depicted a whole new ship design that looks so much more interesting. Also not a big fan of the massive fleet we see at the end and how Lando was able to form together that many people in so little time. The team just pulled out a bunch of ships throughout Star Wars and even created a system to randomly generate new ship designs to fill in the fleet. Great example of more doesn't always equal better. Rogue One and it's Battle of Scarif is far better than what's showcased here which is a shame. Overall I don't really mind this film but we got Mandalorian the same year so people we're way more interested in that with Ep7 I believe releasing around the time of Rise of Skywalker. But these films still get alot of hate by fans which to me is just overreactions.

What if the Jedi anticipated Order 66?
