SHREK (2001) *FULL LENGTH REACTION

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Here we are with quite a change from Star Wars... a nice lighthearted romantic comedy, right?

I absolutely love Mike Meyers' accent in this movie, though at the beginning it reminded me of Braveheart.  I haven't watched many movies with Scottish accents so that's where my mind defaulted to.

For those of you in Discord, you already know this, but for those who are not in Discord, I'm working on a series of short skits that will be using quotes from movies from my react channel!  I'll be starting with some Star Wars ones since it's very topical at the moment.  Those will be YouTube Shorts and TikToks, ideally like 1 minute in length, approximately.

I'm planning to have another themed Patreon poll very shortly for the next movie to watch, if you have any suggestions on the theme, let me know!  It can be a genre, an actor or even a year for movie releases,

Next movie I'll be watching for the channel is ROGUE ONE!!!  I'm pretty excited for that one.

Just a reminder that you need your own copy of the movie to watch along with me, Shrek is available on Amazon Prime (in Canada), and I'm not sure if anywhere else.

I hope you enjoy the reaction, and have a nice rest of your week!

I love random bits of info!!! Donkey is pretty amazing, and he's such a great friend (though can be a bit much at times). Movies referencing other movies is such a treat, though for me, I usually miss the references 😂 Enjoy no. 2!!

I think it’s been over 20 years since I saw this (I generally favoured Pixar over Dreamworks) but this was a lot of fun to rewatch. I remembered about 10% of the movie so it felt very fresh to me. I doubt you remember your question a year later but my favourite main character is Donkey (Shrek’s a bit too shouty for me) and supporting character…probably the gingerbread man. A few random things which stood out to me: hearing the Scottish band The Proclaimers in the soundtrack; a nod to The Matrix in Fiona’s fight scene; and as an Englishman I’d never noticed Scots pronounce ‘privacy’ the same way as North America. There you go, some pointless bits of information no one cares about, you’re welcome 😁 On to no.2

I would actually like to know what happened to them :D

That's one thing I've learned about animated movies... when done right, they're great for kids AND adults! It's also great to watch as a kid, then see as an adult and notice just how different it comes across :D

I'm glad to hear!! It was a very pleasant movie to watch, I can't believe I've never seen it before lol

Yeah like I said for the ROTS post there's the 4 mainline Shrek movies and then the 2 Puss In Boots spinoffs. Shrek 2 is my personal favorite of the 4 but rewatching this one it's amazing how many adult jokes they fit in here and throughout the whole series that just completely sail over your head when you first watch as a kid lol, but this one is a cult-classic.

Michlale

Well this is a pleasant surprise.
