*FULL LENGTH REACTION* for The Last of Us Episode 1 - Season 1

Good timezone everyone!

Well here we are.  I've never played the game, and have no idea what it's about except for, I expect, a post apocalyptic type world (because the name "The Last of Us" hints at that).

Braveheart is giving me issues with processing, so here's this one to tie you over until later today (hopefully) or tomorrow for the full length reaction of Braveheart!

This was a great start to the series... That's all I can say without spoiling anything.  Obviously I would kindly ask to not give any spoilers for the rest of the story since I haven't played the game :)

The story isn't original (I feel like there have been plenty of post apocalyptic stories similar to this), but I'm curious to see where it's going to go.

My biggest issue has been the camera movement.  I was partially distracted (and kept forgetting how much it affected me) during first first time watching it, but during the editing the camera movement really stood out and I'm not a fan.  I'm just hoping there are that many in vehicle scenes.

Let me know if you'll be watching the series, and if you've played the game <3

I didn't know that was Thandie Newton's daughter, that's awesome! I don't mind if an adaptation is spot on or if there are differences, as long as it doesn't change too much (like if Lord of the Rings had guns for example would be too much). It's still so crazy that they would jump to that. I get it but at the same time, I feel like there must be a better way to deal with it. I'm just hoping that there is no event like that in my lifetime... I would be perfectly fine never dealing with a post-apocalyptic scenario

I did play the game, though never got around to the sequel. The second one is a bit divisive I think, but most people really seem to like it. The show nails it so far- I don't personally think adaptations have to perfectly match the source/its fine to tell their own story, but for a faithful adaptation this is pretty spot on. The actress playing Sarah (daughter of Thandie Newton from Westworld etc) does so well. The soldier scene.. I think it's just the initial panic with noone knowing how it spreads, what signs might be, etc and some reactionary commanders taking complete quarantines to an extreme that anyone injured might be a risk especially since the soldiers guarding the quarantine would be vastly outnumbered by the potentially infected civilians. Not saying its a good call, but very believable in the chaos of quarantines falling apart like this even if the infection didn't turn people violent. For that matter, so early on they are probably still trying as hard of a quarantine of infected areas as possible so would have orders not to let anyone out of the area anyway. I think that's also why they show the low flying planes. Similar to 9/11 when airports around the country were abruptly shut down they probably weren't allowing landings/takeoffs so aircraft in flight would eventually run low on fuel and be looking for emergency landing locations.
