FULL LENGTH REACTION* for Hunger Games

Hey everyone!!

HUNGER GAMES is here!!!  This movie (and I'm assuming the franchise) is taking me a while to edit because I have to look at the shaky camera so much.  It's actually causing my motion sickness to start so I can't power through and just edit them.

Though I am glad I'm watching them, I think they're pretty damn good, at least the first one is so far.

Who is your favorite character in this movie?

A quick reminder that for this type of content you do need your own copy to follow along!

Have a nice day!

I went in expecting a crappy teen movie, but it turned out to be a really great series! My biggest issue is the camera movement since it makes me sick, but I love the grief for all the different characters, they really showed it so well. It's a great genre, and I'm glad to hear that you enjoy Hunger Games!! It's a gem for me

I think even given the flaws this is an enjoyable movie, one I like seeing reactions to. I honestly haven't seen Jennifer Lawrence give a better acting performance than she gives in this franchise, especially the later movies where serious grief and post-traumatic stress is at play. Overall not revolutionary and very teen dystopian but I think I'm a sucker for the genre.

Perfectly fair to criticize! There were definitely some moments that felt forced, I didn't like the whole "being in a tree and no one can hit her" part. It was pretty silly. I feel like Peeta didn't stand out much in this movie, he was sort of just there and a guy that was with his crush. I assume the books are much better with the issues the movies have, but I won't know until I read them.

I actually saw this when it was released due to Jennifer Lawrence (I’d not long before seen her in her breakout role in Winter’s Bone and was impressed). I couldn’t remember any of this, and having just watched it again I do think it’s a pretty forgettable movie. I didn’t hate it, but it’s no better than ok for me. There were a couple of stupid moments. You mentioned one yourself - the ‘we can’t hit her up in the tree’ moment. I can forgive the possibility that not everyone is skilled with a bow but I thought the spear guy was there, but if not, the knives lady was (they even reminded the audience how good she was while they were waiting at the foot of the tree). The second one was dodging an arrow. Dodging a throwing knife is bad enough but an arrow, please. These things should be easily forgivable overall though, plot armour and all that, but it’s still lazy writing. I’m not just gonna dump all over it though. I liked Katniss (having been an archer myself a few years back how could I not). I think she’s a decent enough protagonist. Peeta was ok, I liked Rue she was sweet, Stanley Tucci and his smile was amazing, and I couldn’t care less if we never see Gale again. The fact that all other “good” tributes got taken out by others meant there wasn’t any internal struggle felt and made it all very simple. I was sad when Rue died but it didn’t hit particularly hard as we’d only known her for two minutes. I’ll continue with the franchise (especially as this didn’t feel like a complete movie in its own right, but just a part one) and hope I enjoy it more as I go. Assuming there is a love triangle (absolutely nothing I hate more), that’s gonna be tough, but I’ll give it a fair shot. In the unlikely event anyone has read this far I’m sorry for all of the negativity.

I feel like all the characters are well done in these movies, and they're all so different. Prim had great character development and growth!!
