They're going to trigger Mean Evie and see if she can gain control if she's as Mean Evie for long enough. She's usually only ever been that way for a few minutes at best.
They assume these B-Class heroes are strong enough that Mean Evie couldn't ever be a threat to them. ...they're obviously wrong though. The more she gets hurt, the stronger she gets (and more horns she grows).
