NGE opening rank 1st in Japan since its initial release XD To me it's first as well because it was the first thing I've ever heard in Japanese in my life, fell in love with it and learned japanese. Two weeks ago I met with a friends' wife, who is Japanese and we had a blast talking about Evangelion. We laughed because the anime and opening is very cryptic / with complicated words an thematics so I didnt really understand it back then and now that I speak japanese, I still dont really understand it. She laughed because even for Japanese people the words and thematics of the opening makes it kinda cryptic and hard
