I see in the comments that, according to the novel order, Hanamonogatari should be next. However, I think that only this order that does not matter much. I think I watched Hanamonogatari before Nadeko Medusa. But I also tried to imagine the route where I watched it after the second season, especially after the ordeal at the end of Koimonogatari. It seems that the "content" in Hanamonogatari was designed to be intentionally confusing and deceptive anyway. But it might as well be a selfish wish on my part to see your reactions to Nedeko Medusa rather sooner than later. And as always, thank you for yet another wonderful Wednesday!

2025-07-24 18:59:56 +0000 UTCI guess I can understand why people recommend to watch it in that order because of novel order, but I don't understand this narrative of "It has to be watched in that order" that you guys are saying. I watched it in airing order I can't recall anything major at all that would've been improved by watching it the other way. If anything there are certain parts of Hana that feel awkwardly placed when watched in the "correct" order but I guess that's also pretty standard for the series.

When I saw y'alls reaction, I could tell y'all appreciated the right things about this series and decided to sub to patreon and rewatch the entire series with y'all. I forgot how much this episode hits me - just seeing an older Hachikuji and a world where Shinobu never gets close to Araragi hit me like a brick. Can't wait for the next arc as well, I remember it being fantastic but can't clearly remember what happened.

The anime jumbled things around a bit, that's why it says Nadeko Medusa is next. It's not a huge deal if you follow the anime order on this IMO just thought you should know.

The Light Novel order, the same one used by Motbob, places Hanamonogatari after Kabukimonogatari (Mayoi Jiangshi) and before Otorimonogatari (Nadeko Medusa). During the broadcast of “Monogatari Second Season,” Hanamonogatari was removed and released separately at the end. I don't want to go into details, much less get into arguments with others (lol), but there are plot reasons why it MUST be watched in that order (or at least before Koimonogatari).
