Kabru is to humans as Laios is to monsters, and I'm absolutely delighted with what he's bringing to this story.
And much like Laios with monsters, with that understanding of people, that desire to protect and know more about them, there seems to be a lack of trust in their motivations. It just brings me back to the kelpie and Laios saying that it's the charming monsters you really have to worry about. While we the audience know better, it does look bad from the outside, Laios giving money to his former party members.
While "θε³γͺγ" can mean "indifferent", not sure translating it that way is helping here, given that it feels like a neutral-ish word? A "meh" word. Probably I'm just being a pedant. Kabru's conjecture seems to me to be that Laios is either too naive to make good choices about who to trust or deliberately funding black market operations, and isn't interested enough in what other people are doing/how his actions could be impacting others to get to the truth of the matter. Which would be a disastrous trait in a leader.
