Idk how you came to that conclusion, the presentation is a lot harder to swallow in Monogatari compared to Mushoku Tensei. Mushoku brings up more controversial topics, but it mostly takes them seriously and doesn't fetishize the topics. Meanwhile, Nise will manage to make a teeth-brushing scene extremely lewd. Anyway, I love them both so personally idc.

It is not a big deal but knowing how they do their analysis and hearing their discussions I'm sure that being aware for example that this is a light novel will make them appreciate way more the anime.

Also i like the fact that we don't see any of the araragi and senjo date stuff is because araragi wants to keep that part private so he doesnt tell us.

I know that it is important but I prefer that they skip this part instead of a possibility to drop when they are watching. I want so much to see they react to the other seasons, and nise has so many weird scenes that I have fear that they could drop.

I especially liked how you said Kizu was like araragi finally feeling comfortable in sharing that story after the events in episode 15 of bake. I never thought of it like that and it makes so much sense! Love how you didn't just dismiss the shed scene as needless fanservice either and found merit in what it was trying to do. 2024-11-09 20:09:04 +0000 UTCYou might be correct that the fanservice moments in Nise disrupt the pacing. I'd have to rewatch it to see how bad it is. It's been a while and I guess I might have remembered only the good parts, lol. It's tough to say which arc is the weakest. Personally I think I would go with Tsuki, just because it's the least memorable and impactful one for me. I've also rewatched it the least amount of times. The first half of Owari first season has to be my favorite. I love the introspective nature of it and there hasn't been a character in fiction that I've empathized with more than with Sodachi. The main thing I look for in stories in general are "real" and complex characters that I might resonate or empathize with. I like when stories leave me with something to think about after experiencing them, or when they challenge my views. As stupid as it might sound, Monogatari taught me life lessons that I'll probably never forget, which I didn't expect would happen when it was described to me as a "wacky" and "problematic but fun" story.

2024-11-09 15:35:28 +0000 UTCIt's not a bad arc, just compared to the other ones (not counting the newest season, I haven't seen it yet) I feel like they dig a bit deeper. But that's just personal opiniom, depending on preferences in what people look for in Monogatari a lot of people disagree or agree either way. I think if they would have turned down the fanservice a bit they could have told nise more effectively, the fanservice often takes away from the moment, like when marvel movies do the "well, that just happened" after an emotional moment. It just takes you right out of it. Bake (and the rest of the series) has a lot of fanservice as well but I think it's just used better in those cases (shows araragis perspective, adds artistic composition, comedic moment) I feel like they interrupt the narrative less and are instead more incorporated into the story. Not sure how to express it. Nise is a good arc just not the best and there are plenty of fanservice moments that work but also plenty that don't, in my opinion. What's your favorite/least favorite arc? What do you look for in Monogatari?

The main theme of fakes in Nise is really strong and important for showing how Araragi views himself by making him confront Karen and her reckless sense of justice that he supposedly "grew out of". We find out more about Senjouhagara by seeing her interact with Kaiki. I also like Kaiki's philosophy on fakes. "Sometimes the fake can be more real than the real thing". I guess people get a bit stunlocked by the "fanservice" scenes and can't appreciate the good stuff in this arc.

The "usual" Fanservice shots also get ramped up by 30% at least. I can fully understand anyone who stops watching when they amp up the fan service, especially when the story is at it's weakest and gets even weaker bc of it.
