you guys are the best, by far the least people who understands re zero as close as you can.

I think it’s okay to watch at the end of episode 21 since it won’t spoil anything anymore but for sure not any time before that

Also, if we have a mod here, please tell them not to watch the second opening. The second opening sadly, spoils a bit too much, which would be a shame. Eyes closed and only listen, which is okay because i think it's only shown twice anyways lol

This is either my third or fourth rewatch of Re:Zero after season 2 finished airing, and I'm eagerly looking forward to the next rewatch. No need to elaborate further 😅

Markus

The best part was when Subaru said: Emilia-tan, taida desu ne in that tone of voice and Emilias reaction to it :)

For the rewatch question. After you watch season 2, go back and watch season 1 again. Season 1 will feel so different as a lot of conversations, moments, decisions etc get put into a different light with everything that has and still has to transpire in season 2. The way Tappei writes, for me personally, is amongst the best of our generation. Because it transcends Arcs, where x arcs later he will still untie a knot from season 1 for example or just put something into a different light and you go "NO WAY". I've read up until mid-Arc 7 and from what ive heard from the second half from Arc 7 and arc 8, he still just keeps going and going and going. So yeah, even after 3 or 4 rewatches, you will still catch new stuff somehow, even more so if you yourself have progressed in life and the lessons might affect you differently today than they did 8 or 4 years ago.

To answer the question you asked in the discussion, To me the re: part of the title in re:zero speaks to what is likely one of the, if not the most prominent theme of the series which is re. When I say re I mean recontextualization, reliving, redoing, restarting etc. but also rewatching. Even where am at as a novel reader far ahead of the anime I can look back to the episodes you're watching right now and find bits and pieces of character oriented foreshadowing that are just now at the forefront. Rewatching you can really see the seeds that are constantly being planted by the author in that regard.

Out of all the shows that I've rewatched over the years, Re:Zero is the best to re-experience with a better grasp of the characters. So many of the characters have their issues and arcs foreshadowed, and so many of the actions that they take that seem odd or confusing are completely recontextualized.

Hey guys, Please read this: Subaru doesn't look the way he does because he's been looking everywhere, not that he hasn't. But if you remember he lost his qualifications to enter the tomb of the witch of greed, meaning, like Roswaal, who is bandaged all the way up from his attempt, Subaru is strong arming the defensive curse on the tomb that literally causes physical pain and sickness if you attempt to enter while not qualified. I'd imagine it feels something like being punched in the everything continuously while having food poisoning. Also, if your relationship is able to survive the fight of next episode, then imo that relationship is fated to last. Next episode is the most realistic example of such a situation I've ever seen from any other media.

The virgin Roswaal: *cradles his manga like a nerd* The Chad Barasu: "Get in and put on your make-up you fucking clown, Otto and I are changing fate."

You know now that I’m equipped to better rewatch this series your guys thoughts got my wheels turning and I just realized that a lot of what Subaru is developing is recreating that trust in those around him to help carry his burden of saving the people he wants to save. Something he had gotten in season 1 but was lost Mentioned how Subaru was finally going to tell someone about what was going on after failing a few times terribly. I just flash backed to exactly what happened in season 1 with Rem. Subaru tried to do it all alone afraid to show his weaknesses to anyone and be the one who saved everyone by himself and just kept failing to the point of breaking down. Sad reality of the ending of season 1. Subaru finally had someone who he knew truly cared about him knowing who the real Subaru was and allowed himself to show her his weaknesses and open up to allowing her to help him solve the problems he was struggling on. Then it’s immediately taken away from him. He of course blames himself even tho it was nothing he could’ve done. Then he’s left feeling like he has to shoulder this burden alone again and goes into a similar pattern of struggle. Then best bro Otto comes in similarly points out that Subaru is weak alone and just needs to open himself up to a friend. Subaru realizes again he has someone who really cares about him and is openly known to his faults and accepts him. This time with less birds and sparkles. But I’m sure Otto could’ve brought them in if he wanted to! Anyways that is why Otto is best boy and this show with its parallels are so great when they pay off after so much struggle.

About thoughts on a rewatch - I thought season 2 in particular was much better on my first rewatch once I was able to recognise all the small gears that were turning together and how intricately plotted it was.

Jay Craig

On ur question about a rewatch of re zero, many people say, myself included, “you’ve never truly watched re zero until you’ve rewatched it.” So yeah lmao

barü

Next episodes are peak rezero. Every single one of them.

I've rewatched this series probably over 6 times through reactions and every time i gain an appreciation for the story being told more and more. Every time you can see a little more detail in the small hints early on that you never think of. I would also recommend you guys watching, whether on your own time, or reacting to the sin what if stories that the author releases every year on Subaru's birthday told by the channel Echidnut. Also his video on how the magic system works it extremely informative and shows that the magic system is much more complex than initially believed.

Life is worth living again. Your reactions really make my evening, I hope all is well! Fun fact the OST while the Subaru and Roswaal conversation is called straight bet it already played in season 1 episode 7 the writer Tappei Nagatsuki liked it so much that he named this chapter after it. Also love Ben appreciation the composition of this season since it got a lot of flack by some fans Also Subaru pretended wanting to choke Enila there because last time that’s what brought puck out hence pucks Dialoge calling Subaru needy and joking about erasing him You can tell Re:Zero originally is light novel because the dialogue is just so amazing I feel like Re:Zero keeps getting better each rewatch because once you know you see all the effort the staff and author put in the anime to leave small bread crumbs that show what happened beneath the mask of eccentricity Subaru likes to put on and I still tear up at the same times I did on my first watch because I feel like the second time it hammers home the messages even more The world you’re looking fore Anna to describe Gardiel might be foe, paralleling or mirroring?
