2023-12-17 01:15:53 +0000 UTCYou hit the nail on the head, that by being able to relate to Subaru, it lets you have a deeper emotional connection to the other characters, through him. Consider that without it, you would never be sad about any character's death in this show, because you know logically they would just be fine in a few minutes as the loop resets. There would be no emotional weight to anything happening. Subaru brings that emotional weight to the audience, because while both us and Subaru know that things will reset, we still empathetically relate to all the pain and loss that he is experiencing in the moment. This is a show that requires the viewer to have a good amount of empathy in order to even get the core experience out of it. So I think you two are a perfect match for this series, as your analysis and reactions are always filled with great insights about character's perspectives.

2023-12-15 06:34:54 +0000 UTCit makes perfect sense that emilia is leaning so heavily on subaru. think of whats happened in just a few days from her perspective. subaru organized an army to come save her and the whole village without her knowledge. then he almost dies rescuing her from that explosion. he then tells her he loves her. thats literally all in just a few days. and emilia was always reliant on a guardian for her life. so subaru, who keeps declaring himself to her as her knight or whatever is the logical choice.

2023-12-14 10:17:52 +0000 UTCSo just a cool detail from the LN to bring up now: During the mansion/Rem arc, during the final loop, Roswaal mysteriously leaves the mansion unlike the other loops. In the LN he specifically says he's going to visit Garfiel in the sancturary. You can infer from this that Subaru's actions lined up with what was written in his Tome of Wisdom and he began following its instructions and making preperations for this specific arc. It's really eerie to think about how long Roswaal has been aware of Subaru and his situation

2023-12-14 07:24:49 +0000 UTCWe actually get some foreshadowing regarding Meili's true colors in episode 11 of Season 1. Near the end of the episode, Roswaal asks Ram if she managed to figure out who was controlling the mabeasts in the forest. Ram replies that she attempted to track down the perpetrator, but that the trail had vanished. However, she then mentions that one of the rescued children had disappeared from the village the day after the attack. I think most people had forgotten about this scene because it got "sidelined" by Roswaal declaring his intention to kill the dragon (which happens directly after). That and the fact that there's been so many other important events happening afterwards 😅

Like when she thought about Season 1 and then connected the dots to Meili, "SHE WAS THE LITTLE GIRL FROM SEASON 1!!" haha I love that. But its also frustrating when they just barely miss and we can't reach them! Like, Roswaal beating Subaru up and not killing him is because he doesn't know that death is the trigger. In Roswaal's head, if Subaru dies, its game over... And Emilia repeating the trials over and over in hope that Subaru would come back to help her... Anyways, great reaction as aways!! Next episode is going to be FIREEEEEEE!!!!
