the only thing i can think of at that point is rico's mom asking him to do it. it also might be why he was named reg to begin with. rico may have been exposed to the name reg through leader. i cant remember if rico actually named her dog that or her dog was named that already.

2023-10-23 01:15:13 +0000 UTCthats if hes using cartridges. he could just be sacrificing his umbra hands too. something tells me he doesnt have enough cartriges to make the full ascent. even though reg and him fell into the 6th layer, the golden city part is much much deeper i think. so its more than likely he just sacrificed one of his avatars. meaning he experienced the full transformation every time on ascent just to gain some insight.

2023-10-22 21:09:08 +0000 UTCAs they explained in the movie, his mask has nothing to do with it. His consciousness is just shared between all of the Umbra Hands via the Zoaholic. He can freely "take over" any of them fully at any time.

It might be identical copy - down to her very soul and likely memories - but mitty 1.0 and mitty 2.0 are not one and the same individual. Nanachi just doesnt diversify on that metric, because for her, for all practical purposes, copy mitty equals mitty. Shes still stuck on her past.

It's not selfishiness, though maybe it is. It's more egotistic in nature. At heart, those that make it this far, only do so from an obsession to go this deep, an obsession that ignores everything else. Examples: Riku's mom literally left her to go back in and continue to explore. Riku leaves all of her friends and everything she knew to go into this hole. Bondewd ... enough said? Literally everyone from the past. "These were all people with strong desires", who would not be dissuaded to have said desires met. Riku is like "break my arm here... so I can continue to dive".

2023-10-21 15:12:26 +0000 UTCNo spoilers (because I have none) If Hollows were humans who lost their bodies, what makes you think they lack their humanity, their empathy (or any other emotion)? Just because they've lost (or given up) the means of expressing empathy doesn't mean they dont care. Case in Point Mitty did her bestest to comfort and help Riku (GJ Mitty). But to the outside eye it just looks like a blob of flesh flapping around on top of an unconscious girl. Case in point 2... the "Restaurant" and "Flea Market" Exist, not only do they exist, but the Restaurant seemed to have a busy time and a closing time. Last but not least, hell I mean this is 2 in 1, Riku is staying in an "inn" which she had to pay for, and her GUIDE got her there. I mean their culture is TOTALLY different than ours, but this doesn't mean they lack empathy or humanity does it? Seems to me they are just true to their desires.

She wasn't created, she was changed into a hollow, but hollows are still people too. I know it's easy to forget the humanity of all of this, but its very important to remember when discussing about her being an infinite source of food... (ewwww). (39:55) She wasn't created, she was born lol and changed :(

Ive always thought the abyss was a machine that just got out of control. Like an ai , powered by a singularity(thus the time dialation) that can warp reality. What if the machine actually had staff running it not so long ago(because of the time dialation) , but they passed away so it wanted a replacement. So like wilford in snow piercer kinda, the machine(or perhaps the last scientist) created reg to bring someone back to become the new controller of the abyss.

You suffer but you keep moving forward to find moments of happiness and peace in a place that would take everything from you. Even your sense of self.

2023-10-21 08:03:53 +0000 UTCAdding on to my previous comment, I think you guys should watch some Made In Abyss reviews that other YouTubers have made (TheMissingLettr has an amazing video on the series that encapsulates the story elements of season 2 beautifully well) whether on your channel or your own time. Having different perspectives and theories on the series really shows how passionately crafted the world of the Abyss is (plus stuff from the manga gets referenced which may help clear up a few points that the anime left out or left rather vague)

2023-10-21 01:16:37 +0000 UTCI truly love how you guys discuss and go into detail of each episode- Made In Abyss is so incredibly dense with uniquely gruesome story elements that are so intricate and fascinating. There are many issues with the series as a whole, but the storytelling and world building is beyond amazing. Seeing you both being so invested in this beautiful and heart-wrenching story, and taking so much time to build up your own theories is by far what makes you two one of my favourite reaction-based channels. The overall theme of the series is that the Abyss is full of both Blessings and Curses, wherein even the most horrific circumstances can create true beauty and touching moments, and vice-versa. The arc of season 2 is my favourite so far, and I love how you guys are reacting to it. Thank you for continuing with this series with the same passion that you held from the very first episode! I can't wait to see what you two think when more of this arc is revealed
