Couple of details (both from the show and the LN), none of which should be spoilers: First, there's a translation error in the Crunchyroll subs. It's not super consequential or anything, but the word used to describe the price of the fare for Superd is "hyaku", which in Japanese means "hundred," not "thousand" (which would be "sen"). So, the price of Ruijerd's fare would have been 200 green ore coins according to the show's audio, not 2,000. Now, the relative values of the major currencies in this world are such that 200 green ore coins is roughly equivalent (according to the LN) to 2 Asuran gold coins. If we take Thomas' word for it that 10 such coins would be worth roughly as many educations at the University of Magic, then 2 Asuran gold coins can buy 2 such educations. It may be an arbitrary number, but I find it more than a little ironic that Rudy keeps running into a situation where he needs and lacks the exact same amount of money -- enough money for two educations at the University, and now enough for Ruijerd's fare. Thomas, by the way, is the name of the Boreas servant who tried to orchestrate Eris' kidnapping. They never mention his name in the show. Second, the Demon Eye Kishirika uses to assess Rudy is, if you'll remember, exactly the same as the one Ghislaine used to gauge the severity of the mana disturbance in E8. Since I don't think there's any other way to get one of those eyes than to have Kishirika give one to you, it's probably safe to assume that Ghislaine had a run-in with the Emperor at some point. And at that point, I personally started wondering why they're both wearing the same sort of chest covering. I like the idea that one of them is emulating the other. The obvious dynamic is Ghislaine, after her run-in with this ancient and legendary figure, starts dressing like her. However, I think I like the idea of lonely Kishirika taking a shine to Ghislaine and starting to dress like her. The show does give away a detail in the second season (this comment being written well after the episode containing that detail came out) which says if anything, it's Ghislaine emulating the Emperor. However, the detail itself could be creative license on the show's part. I'm not far enough in the LN to tell one way or other. Additionally, the fact that both Kishirika and Ghislaine can have and use the same type of eye at the same time means that when Kishirika gives an eye to someone, she is not then sacrificing her own use of said eye type. So, while she has 12 demon eyes, she has an indeterminate number of each one to dole out as she sees fit. Finally, since we've met Kishirika at last, it's worth noting a few bits about Rikarisu, the first major city they entered on the Demon Continent. It used to be Kishirika's stronghold and it's named after her. The black fortress was her palace and the lights which shine on it at night were installed at her order way back when. The glowing stones are extremely rare and valuable and the project to install them constituted a mega-project even in a magical world. Why did she have that done DURING a war where resources were scarce? Apparently, she felt it made her house look more badass.
