Whether that is correct in any situation is up for debate, but this story has a lot of great examples; Rudy, Paul, Ruijerd(you'll see), and even Eris and Ghislaine. I think its a beautiful moral; that you need to accept your own faults and take responsibility, but you also need to forgive yourself and then be better.
