This is one of those scenes I constantly rewatch. What a lot of people forget is Vegeta, up until this point wasn't a good person, even during the years of peace after Cell. He was only on the side of the good guys out of circumstance. Then at some point he just accepted this is his life now. But it's not until this moment he embraces how much he loves his new found friends and family and how he'll sacrifice himself to protect them.
