Here's a discarded sketch of a lil something I'm doing for my homie Coot27! Go check him out if you've never heard the name, and look out for where the finished version of this appears.
Now, in doing some reference gathering for this I realized something about both the nature of P R O N O I like to consume, and therefore make, and the state everything else seems to be in. I've come to realize that the vast majority of things on the internet that are made (and this applies to virtually everything, not just the s m u t), in their vast majority, fall into one of two categories. The first of those categories being "things made to comply" and the second, "things made to mortify".
"Things made to comply" are things that have been made for the express purpose of simply complying with a set of completely arbitrary, and might I add imaginary, checklist that no one ever really enforces but everyone seems to reward, momentarily anyways. So, whenever "things" are made to comply with said checklist they will only ever achieve the goal of complying with that checklist. Nothing more. Hence they are vapid and remarkably unmemorable. Ultimately forgotten.
"Things made to mortify" are things that are made explicitly and implicitly to shock and appall, to disgust and disturb, to purposely create a negative reaction in whoever happens to watch. Because of this, these "things" have an unmistakable "mean spirited" air about them. Regardless of context, they never seem to be made in good faith or because it is of particular interest to whoever is making them. They are instead made to chase the high of the pleasure that comes from the persecution that breeds validation. Things made with this purpose are not only blatantly noticeable, but I also find genuinely disgusting and highly exploitative.
There really seems to be a lack, or at the very least a very short supply, of things that are made "just because somebody wanted to" or made out of some genuine want or need. Let's go back to talk about the P 0 R n O's so I can give an example to better illustrate my point. As an exercise, you can go right now to your preferred video hosting site of debauchery and you'll quickly notice that many, if not all, of the things that are being presented immediately are going to more than likely feature the following meta-scenario: a large male forcing himself upon a much smaller female, often of a slender and petite build. Now, I am not saying that there is anything inherently wrong with predilections that steer towards the more physically forceful. I know you freaks like it like that (hehehe). What I am saying however is that there is an over abundant reliance on this type of power dynamic that sometimes very clearly goes deep into territories that, while fictitious, seldom escape the ugly stain of that "mean spirited" intent. Its almost as if even extreme content isn't made for the sake of the content itself, but to get off to the fact that's being made.
All terrible reasons to get up in the morning and do stuff in my humble opinion. Like I always say, all that is wrong in the world can be blamed on either the genuinely stupid or the genuinely evil.
The older I get the more I find myself enjoying P R O N O that features people and/or characters enthusiastically screwing the snot out of each other, no matter how weird they get with it. And just in general, I would much rather spend my free time on things that were made by a person or a group of people that made it because they had a singular vision to make something, they wanted to tell a story, they wanted to say something, or just simply they wanted to make something cool. You can often tell that the people who make things like these, while they were making, were enjoying the process of making it, or at the very least really believed in what they were doing. Often times these are the things that leave long lasting impressions on people, regardless of quality or quantifiable success.
All of this came from goblins.
Anyways
Hope you guys have a great rest of the week!
