Added 2024-02-24 22:07:44 +0000 UTCHere I am thanking you all again for being so patient with me. I promise in March we will get back on track and get some new series out again. Next week Emma and I have more adventures planned in Dark Souls 2. I've set aside some time to focus on the game so I am hoping to get it finished! Upcoming series for the year are Deltarune Chapters 1 & 2, Subnautica Below Zero, Disco Elysium and then the Return of the Obra Dinn. Hopefully we can do those by October, where I would love to look into Silent Hill. After that I am planning on returning to Dark Souls again with DS3. The order of these may change because I tend to just pick a game based on how I am feeling at that time haha. Unfortunately the interest for Final Fantasy 7 Remake didn't turn out as I had hoped, I have LOVED the game but I don't know if I am doing it justice with my playthrough haha, so I will wait a bit before looking into Rebirth to give people a chance to play it for themselves and then see if there's interest! I hear the new game is very big too and my track record of big games on the channel doesn't bode well haha. Still absolutely loving playing through the game and editing it though. If I am honest with everyone, I think I am going through a very rough patch with the Channel at the moment and I feel like a bit of a failure. I read some books this week and watched Avatar instead of working on videos, which was nice, but I do feel guilty now. Anyone watched through the LA series yet? It just made me want to do a re-watch of the animated show, perhaps we could have a community ATLA night or something to introduce some people to it. Thanks for popping by the streams to hangout, y'all are so funny and lovely. Its helped me so much. I think I will try to organise the streams a bit more in the future with some more planned out content but at the moment its nice to hang out and feel a lot less pressure. Thank you!

I’m sorry you have been feeling like a failure I don’t agree but everyone goes through points where they feel like that I know you will get through this rough patch better than ever. I for one have been really enjoying your Final Fantasy VII Remake playthrough I watch your content for you & not for perfect gameplay and I agree with some others that maybe you could just upload it on Patreon in a less in edited format for now hopefully people become more interested when Rebirth comes out but I think you should do whatever feels best for your channel. Those other games sound great though I hope you & the community enjoy them also everyone needs to take time for themselves every once in a while. I love your content & keep up the great work. :-) <3

I personally have been loving the FF7 playthrough, you really take in the points that matter the art and characters and bring your own emotional connection which enriches the whole experience, that is a real strength that puts you as one of my newest and favourite creators. Please take all the time you need to reset your brain, reading is such a good escape from the always online world we live in, and when you come back go forward with whatever you feel is best and we'll support you regardless. Keep being your authentic self and you'll thrive, I'm sure of it!

2024-02-25 15:21:01 +0000 UTCI can see why to a general audience games like FF7R might be a bit difficult to get into (with games that huge, lets plays feel like a big commitment to watch - I can't imagine how much more intimidating it is on the creator side!) They can also feel very same-y depending on how much of the combat gets edited out or left in, which I'm sure is a tricky balance to manage. Looking forward to Return of the Obra Dinn especially, that's definitely one I think a lot of Outer Wilds fans also enjoy watching people work through! Hopefully the positive feedback in these comments helps assuage your feelings of failure at least a bit, although without knowing what your goals are for the channel it's hard for us to judge!

I discovered the channel toward the 2nd half of last year and your videos have been a consistently enjoyable escape from the stresses of work/life, for me...and for many others, I'm sure. Speaking of that... reading books and binge watching a show sounds like a mighty fine break. I hope it's been refreshing and helpful to step away for a little bit. Your big heart and thoughtful playthroughs make you stand out among the rest. Instead of just plowing through a game, you soak it all in and you treat in-game characters as though they are real life people. It's a level of awareness and empathy you don't see too often, and it's pretty great. Your funny reactions and edits have made me laugh quite a bit as well. I trust that whatever games you choose, the videos will be a pleasure to watch. Here's hoping you're able to play/make what you want, have fun doing it, and that you're able to find a healthy balance in this complicated world of YouTube content creation. I don’t think I’ve been a subscriber very long (maybe a year or so? A little less?) but you very quickly turned into my favorite creator on YT 🩵 I really hope you can feel a little better soon, because I agree with everyone else that you’ve been absolutely killing it with your channel 🥰

I've greatly enjoyed everything you've put out and the streams have indeed been super cozy! Also can't wait for the further continuation of everything Fromsoft Soulsborne! FWIW, i greatly enjoyed your FF7R playthrough so far. It's one of my favorite games, almost to the same extend as Outer Wilds and Hollow Knight. Perhaps you could still share more of the playthrough on Patreon in a less edited format? I would LOVE to see your further reactions to Aerith. Only do it if you feel up for it though. Your health and wellbeing comes first!

2024-02-25 06:22:54 +0000 UTCI think the issue with doing games that are newly released is that most people will be too busy playing the game that they don't bother watching people play them. I personally don't watch content of games I'm interesting in playing but haven't for obvious spoiler reasons. Maybe I'm generally an outlier, but I tend to watch content of games I either played alot myself, or are something I've known about for a long time. Its the same as GOW:R I haven't played it yet and until I do I tend to stay away from watching playthroughs of the game.

I have ADHD too. So this might just be your low dopamine. Maybe this is how the algorithm has changed too? A lot of creators are quitting now. Maybe try doing the normal stuff that helps. Going for an intense run to get that runner's high, or a walk, or meditation, etc.

Following your heart about what to play instead of following trends really comes through in your videos, and if what you need is a break, then please don't feel any bit of guilt for it. For what it's worth, I'm still a happy subscriber, and have been loving the videos and streams this year. If you decide to continue FF7 on your own, I'd love to hear your final thoughts. Maybe it could work as a alternate channel video. It sounds like you had a nice week, why not make it two :)

Do what you've gotta do though - I've gotten enough enjoyment from your channel that I feel good about supporting you either way!

It sounds like you needed to take a break this week, so don't feel guilty! While I've loved watching the remake videos, I'm sure we're all along for the ride with any of those ideas above. I'm one of the people who have never seen the last airbender, that would be the perfect reason to get me to watch it!

Could it maybe be just a Patreon series with minimal editing? Hope you can take care of yourself and feel better, not even close to a failure considering how many people get joy and comfort from your videos. Take it at your own pace and we’ll enjoy your uploads whenever they arrive, no rush

Mental health is important, and taking a break will probably do much more to help you in the end then forcing yourself to keep your nose to the grindstone or whatever. And as for streams being disorganized or whatever, I’m not sure that most of us really care about the level of organization. We’re just there to chill and hang out with you and the other lovely people in this community you’ve cultivated. No matter how many breaks you take or how gameplay or chatting focused the streams are, it always makes my day when I get a stream notification or a new video, and I’d rather you were enjoying yourself and and healthy while doing that than trying to push yourself too hard. Thank you for everything you do.

Yea, I get a lot of streamers need to focus on revenue and so have to constantly worry about that stuff, but if it's any consolation your let's plays are amazing, regardless. As for silent hill, would love to see you play them. Especially the first 4 are amazing. Would also recommend the resident evil 1 remaster if you haven't played it- a lot of the stuff you saw in 2-4 will make more sense if you get that point of reference. Finally wanted to just say thanks- you've given me the courage to try to start streaming, even with tons of self doubt. So even if trolls say bad stuff, remember that you're having a positive impact on many, too!

2024-02-24 23:11:33 +0000 UTCAmber, mate, your mental health will always matter a lot more, as someone who's been through the worst of the worst with it, I can tell when someone going quiet means a bad patch, everyone's here rooting for you ✌️ regarding being a "failure" not even a little bit! The worst thing a YouTuber can do for their own mental wellbeing is worry about numbers, metrics, etc. my favourite games ever are the souls series, hollow knight, and outer wilds, I like finding channels who've played all these games, but I've only ever subscribed to 2 or 3 of the creators' patreons because I genuinely really liked their vibe. I go through a lot of mental health stuff as well, and an absolute rubbish week can get instantly turned on it's head with a "oooh amber 3 hour dark souls video?!" do you know what I mean? You might not have 10 million viewers, but if the quality of your videos help just 10 viewers to have a better day, that really means something. Not a failure, never ever. We miss you ♥️

I love your FF7 playthrough. Your videos are always fun and entertaining to watch. Are you the absolute top-tier fight god? no, but that's completely fine, because you make it up 10 times over by being entertaining. I would be sad if you dropped the series, but don't feel bad about your choices. For what my little opinion is worth, you've been my favorite video creator I've watched since I've subscribed to you. There's no shortage of joy in watching your videos, your enjoyment of the gameplay, the environments, all of it. You've been pumping out golden content the past few weeks. I'm looking forward to your streams! I may just be lurking, but it's so nice how you interact with all of us. It feels very genuine, you know? Keep being awesome, the rest will follow, I'm sure of it.

2024-02-24 22:56:22 +0000 UTCsorry to hear you're planning to drop the FF7 series, it's great watching you play it - perhaps a different format might work better? not so many people like extra long videos so breaking it into shorter videos and putting it up as a play list would do better? though i appreciate you have a lot of content going out at once so whatever works for you is best, just be a shame to drop it completely as you're clearly having fun playing it :)

I’m not a huge final fantasy guy in general only ever really enjoyed 8, but for what it’s worth I was enjoying watching your play through 7 remake The plan for the year seems really solid, whatever order it ends up in im sure they will all be a blast! The streams have been so much fun both interacting with the community and chiming in when you’re playing through the games. Zero pressure on that front I feel like you’re smashing it out the park on all fronts! I started the Avater OG animated series yesterday and I’m 11 episodes in but a community watch along would be a great idea imo! Buzzing for more Amber and Emma souls! Try and not beat yourself up too much (easier said than done I know) to quote Roman Keating life is a roller coaster just gotta ride it….. I’ve no idea why that popped into my head but yeah haha Hope the little downtime has been a nice little escape for a bit, hopefully catch a stream tomorrow!

I also get in a slump sometimes, and have a hard time doing stuff I’m technically supposed to do 😓 And I personally don’t feel like your play through of FF7 Remake is at all unworthy! I really love your play style, and just the general awe at which you look at games, it kinda gives me a new appreciation for them too, you know? Anyway, I’ll be patiently waiting for you next upload, whenever that may be. Just take as much time as you need! I hope you’re doing ok regardless of some of the more negative feelings you’ve been dealing with
