Today begins Book Five, Versatile Wizardry, for Tier 7 Patrons!
Added 2023-01-19 00:44:46 +0000 UTCWorry not, everyone else, your chapters are coming for certain!
Also, the entire lot of 2,864 chapters I edited of Versatile Mage, the world the novel is set in, are in the Public Folder if you want to start reading them. As they are mostly behind a paywall at Webnovel otherwise, if you like to binge, here they are!
This is not the entire story, as the translator I was working with, Xephiz, graduated and left the final 200 or so chapters to someone else, who promptly butchered them and didn't need an editor. As a result, I only know the end of the story from the wiki.
Also, these are the preposting edits, starting, wow, 6, 7 years ago? So there might be editing comments left on them, as well as errors that were caught and corrected in the online versions.
In any event, they give the background of the world of Versatile Wizardry, and indicate just how radical being Versatile instead of anime super-powered is...

...yes. Although it's played up here as a trope. The culture is quite different, with different standards. Also, there's a clear have/have not divide both with TYPE of magic powers, and having magic powers at ALL... which makes for a ruthless societal division.

2023-01-19 13:06:53 +0000 UTCSo I read part of the first chapter... I honestly didn't read further. Is Chinese culture so littered with this much public humiliation? I understand conforming with cultural norms, and its well written, I've even seen other works with other authors like this, but thought it a bad parody that became a meme for English writers. Is this really the type of writing expected in China? I'm not trying to be rude, its just that I really don't know.
