Music Distribution Poll
Added 2019-12-11 22:25:35 +0000 UTCHey all! I've got some great music coming at you in the next few weeks, but I'm timing them to coincide with some collaborations. You'll be getting some nice freebies as part of the deal, and I'm really excited for you to see and hear everything.
Right now, I'm looking for a bit of feedback. I want to make sure that my music is as easy to access and use as possible. When I DM, I use a bunch of custom Spotify playlists filled with music from lots of artists. Having everything available via a streaming service makes it extremely convenient to just plug in my laptop wherever I am, and get going. I understand this is much more complicated when you just have a bunch of loose mp3s lying around.
I'm currently debating putting some or all of the Music d20 catalog available on streaming services (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Bandcamp, you name it). Obviously, this would make it easier for you to access the music, but I fear I would lose many of my patrons if I were to do this, with the thought being that easy access via streaming services means you wouldn't want to pay for the music directly.
However, I'm also aware of content creators that release a lot of their content for free and use their Discord for special content (like the Discord access, variant tracks, bonus music, and high quality files I already offer). This would likely help me to spread the word about Music d20, and would offer listeners more options for how they consume my music. My question for you is whether you would still be a patron if I started releasing my music elsewhere. This is not a binding poll, but I just want to get a feel for what people think.
